About the research group and WHOLE Centre

The research group for obstetric and reproductive health research has the overarching goal of improving the health of women, mothers, and children through research. Our research covers, among other things, adolescent health, reproduction, diagnosis and treatment of pregnancy- and postpartum-related conditions, menopause, and women's mental health. The research group conducts large population-based studies and register studies, including the BASIC, Mom2B, and MERIT projects. The work is based on cohort studies, register-based research, and interdisciplinary collaborations with a focus on maternal mental health and pregnancy outcomes. The research environment is international, collaborative, and research-intensive. Job Responsibilities

The position involves independent research work as well as coordination tasks within ongoing projects in perinatal mental health, reproductive health, and women's health more generally. The responsibilities include, among other things:

  • independently planning, conducting, and leading scientific sub-projects within the research group's activities
  • formulating research questions, designing studies, and contributing to methodological development within translational women's health research
  • data collection, data management, and study documentation, including work with clinical data, register data, and biobank samples
  • statistical analysis in R
  • authoring scientific publications, reports, and presentations
  • contributing to research grant applications and reporting to research funders
  • supervising doctoral students, master's students, and other staff in technical and methodological matters
  • updating the website and social media as part of research communication

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who has:

  • a PhD in medicine, biomedicine, psychology, epidemiology, or another field relevant to the position
  • a medical degree, psychology degree, or equivalent
  • documented scientific production equivalent to at least 5 peer-reviewed publications in international scientific journals
  • documented experience in independently driving research projects, including both clinical/translational and laboratory-based projects
  • experience with data analysis in R
  • experience working with patient data, register data, and biobank material
  • documented experience in literature reviews and scientific writing
  • proficiency in working with digital collaboration and office tools, such as MS Office, Teams, and Google Workspace
  • experience in planning and coordinating meetings as well as preparing presentations and research materials
  • experience in research communication, including web and/or social media
  • excellent ability to communicate orally and in writing in English
  • good teamwork skills and the ability to work independently
  • a structured, meticulous, and flexible work approach with the ability to handle multiple tasks in parallel

Merits

The following are considered merits:

  • postdoctoral experience at an internationally renowned research environment
  • experience in research within perinatal mental health, reproductive health, sex-specific biology, or other women's health-related research
  • experience using tools such as REDCap, Covidence, Rayyan, and Zotero or EndNote
  • experience in translational research, from data-driven hypothesis generation (biobanks/large-scale data) to mechanistic validation and clinical relevance (biomarkers/pathology)
  • experience working with GraphPad Prism
  • experience analyzing RNA-seq data in computing clusters (e.g., R Studio, Visual Studio Code)
  • experience with cohort and register-based studies
  • experience working with PBMCs, primary immune cells, and T-cells
  • knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written
  • documented experience in successfully applying for and obtaining external research funding, e.g., postdoctoral fellowship or equivalent individual research grants
  • experience giving oral presentations and poster presentations at international scientific congresses
  • experience in research within larger interdisciplinary projects or research centers
  • experience with institutional engagement, leadership, or mentoring in academic contexts

The position is fixed-term for 1 year, with a workload of 70%. Start date: ASAP or as agreed. Location: Uppsala.
