The Swedish Armed Forces are in a growth phase, and we are now looking for a replacement for our current transfusion specialist. We are looking for you who are an experienced transfusion specialist.
About the unit
The Defence Medical Centre (FömedC) is an educational and functional centre for defence medical issues located in Gothenburg. At the centre, there is the Functional Unit with the Provider Department. The Provider Department's task is, among other things, to support the Swedish Armed Forces Headquarters with:
- Developing and maintaining the Swedish Armed Forces' blood operations.
- Holding specialist competence in blood transfusion.
In the Swedish Armed Forces' blood operations, there is currently a doctor in the role of operations manager for blood, a transfusion specialist with medical responsibility, a BMA (Bachelor of Medical Administration), and a doctor as quality coordinator.
Main responsibilities
You will continuously contribute to the development of the Swedish Armed Forces' blood operations. You will provide environmental scanning and participate in the management of blood operations within the Swedish Armed Forces. You will also participate in the planning and implementation of training and competence development.
Your responsibilities may also include supporting the development of the total defence's healthcare system. We view it as an advantage if you contribute to developing the ability to handle blood issues in a military medical context internationally.
You will be offered the opportunity for annual clinical service. The Swedish Armed Forces are growing, and your responsibilities may develop over time.
Qualifications
- Specialist doctor in transfusion medicine.
- At least 2 years of experience working in transfusion medicine.
- Good ability to express yourself orally and in writing in Swedish and English.
- Good familiarity with the Office package.
- Category B driver's license.
Merits
- Previous international service.
- Previous experience working with health issues in or with other government agencies, such as FoHM, the National Board of Health and Welfare, MCF, etc.
- Research experience.
- Interest in leading training.
- Experience with management systems.
- Experience from basic military training, conscription, or other activities in the Swedish Armed Forces.
An individual development plan will be drawn up in consultation with the manager, containing both military and civilian aspects, with the aim of strengthening professional competence at an international level. Initially, the focus will be on system knowledge within the Swedish Armed Forces, e.g., staff training, digital systems, visits to units/centres, etc. Later, NATO training may be relevant.

You handle complex issues and problems methodically and systematically, making sensible and rational assessments. We are looking for you with good analytical, communicative, and social skills. You need to have a good ability to work independently as well as in a team.

The Defence Medical Centre (FömedC) is the Swedish Armed Forces' centre for the function of defence medicine, located in Gothenburg. FömedC consists of a leadership with staff, the Swedish Armed Forces' combat school for defence medicine (FSS), the Functional Unit (FunkE), and the Hospital Battalion (Sjhbat). At the centre, there is licensed healthcare personnel such as doctors, veterinarians, nurses, etc. Here you will find officers, reserve officers, civilian personnel, and conscripts. The Defence Medical Centre is part of the Gothenburg Garrison.
