Your Role

Saab is looking for an AI and Data Lead Architect for our AI and Data initiative. You will work in a strategic key role with significant influence, setting the technical direction for how future agentic AI systems and data platforms are designed, built, and scaled across the organization.

You are responsible for shaping the architecture behind future AI solutions, where autonomous and collaborative agents analyze, decide, and act in complex environments. These solutions are used in everything from the Gripen fighter jet and advanced sensor systems to autonomous underwater systems and modern command platforms.

You will work in an environment characterized by high technical complexity and security requirements, where long-term sustainability, robustness, and scalability are crucial.

In this role, you will:

• define the overarching architecture for AI and data
• lead the design of agentic systems and platforms for multi-agent collaboration
• establish principles for how AI, data, and systems are integrated at scale
• drive standards, guidelines, and technical working methods
• lead architecture forums and coordinate tech leads and teams
• serve as a technical advisor to management and the product organization
• ensure that the architecture enables both innovation and secure operations

Your Profile

We are looking for someone with extensive experience in architecture within AI, data, or large distributed systems, who wants to take overall responsibility for the technical direction in a complex organization. You are a clear technical leader who builds trust through competence and the ability to make complex issues understandable and actionable.

You have experience with:

• defining and implementing architecture at scale
• AI and ML systems in production environments
• agentic systems or advanced distributed architectures
• how data, models, and systems interact in holistic solutions
• leading technical change through principles and guidelines

You thrive in a role where you switch between strategic work and technical deep dives, influencing both direction and implementation.

Qualifications

• MSc in Computer Science, Technical Physics, AI, or equivalent
• Many years of experience in system architecture and technical design
• Deep knowledge of AI, data, or distributed systems
• Experience with cloud platforms and modern platform technologies
• Experience working with Kubernetes and platform architecture
• Good communication skills in Swedish and English

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with agentic systems and multi-agent architecture
• Experience with LLMs and Generative AI in larger systems
• Data Mesh or other modern data architecture principles
• Experience in safety-critical or regulated environments
• Experience with HPC or GPU-based infrastructure

The position requires you to undergo and pass the security clearance procedures applicable at the time. For positions where Saab requires security classification, this may, in some cases, entail citizenship requirements.
