About the Role

Tjörn Municipality is looking for a communicative and coordinating GIS Engineer who can contribute to increasing the knowledge and utility of geographic information throughout the organization. As a GIS Engineer in our municipality, you will play a central role in administering, developing, and managing the municipality's GIS systems, as well as providing GIS support to internal and external stakeholders.

The position will be located at the Land and Development and Traffic Unit, which is part of the Property Department within the Municipal Executive Office.

Responsibilities

In the role of GIS Engineer, you must be able to drive your assignments independently while collaborating with both internal colleagues and external partners. You will primarily work closely with our planning architects, construction project managers, traffic engineers, building permit handlers, land and development engineers, and others.

You will:

• Develop and manage our GIS systems to meet organizational needs
• Provide GIS support to internal and external stakeholders, including training and support
• Work on implementing new features and systems
• Follow up on various GIS-related agreements
• Maintain up-to-date records of Buildings, Apartments, and Addresses
• Lead, plan, and follow up on projects to ensure that authority requirements, economics, and quality standards are met

Qualifications

The role requires relevant higher education and experience from similar assignments. We are looking for someone who is self-motivated, has good collaboration skills, can see the big picture, and has:

• An academic education of at least three years (180 credits) with a focus on GIS or an education that the employer deems equivalent
• Experience working as a GIS Engineer, GIS Coordinator, or similar

Merits:

• Experience with Esri and SOKIGO software, both desktop and web
• Experience in the role of a public purchaser (LOU) and working in a politically governed organization

You need to be communicative, driven, and have a good ability to build good relationships both internally and externally. The ability to work independently is a prerequisite for handling your assignment.

You also need to be flexible and willing to learn new things and continue to develop in your role, as this is an area where development is fast-paced.
