System Developer for the Barometer Unit
The National Institute of Economic Research (Konjunkturinstitutet) offers a unique environment for those interested in analyzing economic development. The Barometer Unit is responsible for the Economic Barometer and conducts monthly surveys targeting businesses and households. The unit works with data collection, registry management, analysis, and publication of statistics regarding businesses' and households' views on economic development.

Job Responsibilities
We are currently seeking a System Developer for a fixed-term position of eight months, with the possibility of extension for an additional four months depending on the project's development.
You will work on developing a new registry application for the daily work with the business registry. The role involves translating operational needs into a manageable and user-friendly solution. The application is developed in Python using PySide6 as the graphical framework and utilizes an existing SQL Server database.
Your tasks will include, but are not limited to:
- developing a graphical interface for registry management,
- building functions for searching and updating business information,
- implementing support for comments, response history, and contact changes,
- working with SQL queries as well as existing and new stored procedures,
- ensuring the application functions with existing systems and data models.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone who:
- has a relevant university degree in systems science, computer science, or equivalent,
- has good knowledge of Python,
- has experience developing Python applications with graphical user interfaces,
- has good knowledge of SQL and experience with relational databases,
- has experience working with data models,
- writes structured, readable, and maintainable code,
- has the ability to document technical solutions clearly,
- is self-motivated but also thrives in close collaboration with users,
- has the ability to translate operational needs into technical solutions,
- can communicate effectively in both spoken and written Swedish.
It is an advantage if you:
- have experience with PySide6 or PyQt,
- have experience with MS SQL Server or MS SQL Express,
- have experience working with stored procedures and more complex SQL queries,
- have experience with packaging Python applications,
- have experience with configuration solutions, such as INI files or similar.
