We are looking for you who have some experience, can handle backend development for real, and thrive in environments where systems are large, requirements are high, and solutions need to stand the test of time.

Currently, we are strengthening our team in Stockholm at IBM Consulting with experienced backend developers, primarily for the public sector, where you can help build and further develop systems that make a difference in society – every day.

About the role

As a backend developer at IBM Consulting, you will work together with other IBM colleagues and/or our customers to develop secure and long-term sustainable solutions in complex IT environments.

You typically work in agile teams that have overall responsibility for their area and handle everything from requirements analysis, planning, implementation, to verification and testing. You contribute with your technical expertise, and great emphasis is placed on your ability to continuously improve working methods and processes, for example through automation and AI solutions. On-site work at a customer location in another city may occur.

What we are looking for

You are a curious team player who enjoys mentoring junior colleagues. You enjoy customer contact. You are confident in your skills and have worked for a few years with backend development, preferably in larger organizations. You like technology and understanding the big picture – how systems connect and why they are built the way they are.

We believe you have:

• several years of experience in backend development (preferably 5+ years)
• strong expertise in Java and Spring
• experience building and working with APIs (REST)
• expertise in architecture and design patterns
• experience working with databases, both SQL and NoSQL
• experience with application development in the cloud (Azure, AWS, or GCP)
• experience with agile methods and ways of working
• fluent Swedish and English in speech and writing
• the right to work in Sweden without restrictions at the time of application

And preferably also:

• experience with AI/ML or data-driven solutions
• experience with unit testing (e.g., JUnit)
• experience with CI/CD and tools such as Jenkins
• Experience with Git and modern development workflows
