We are looking for a Tree Safety Manager for Trafikverket (Swedish Transport Administration).

This is a consulting assignment. Location: Choice between Trafikverket's offices in Gävle or Borlänge.

The position is full-time.

The assignment involves close collaboration with the client, which places high demands on flexibility and teamwork skills.

The Assignment

We are looking for a Tree Safety Manager for a national tree safety program along railways, primarily in Central Sweden but also in other regions as needed. The role involves responsibility for monitoring and coordinating tree safety and maintenance clearing contracts, as well as support within forestry competence, planning, and land access issues. The assignment also includes contact with contractors, authorities, and property owners, as well as monitoring quality, environment, and safety. The role also involves traveling across the country as some measures require physical presence.

Responsibilities

• Act as a project consultant and Tree Safety Manager for tree safety and maintenance clearing, primarily in Central Sweden and as needed in other regions.
• Assist the National Tree Program with forestry competence in requirement setting, procurement of contracts, and development of new working methods.
• Participate in the planning of tree safety and maintenance clearing, including marking, staking, and other fieldwork.
• Monitor contracts, contract documents, invoicing materials, and the contractor's daily logs.
• Conduct production and construction meetings as well as consultations regarding work planning.
• Monitor the contractor's work regarding environment, safety, quality, safety rounds, and BAS-U coordination.
• Report deviations, changes, and project status to the project manager or equivalent function.
• Ensure that implementation plans for land access and logging operations are followed.
• Handle consultations and permit issues with municipalities and authorities, including coastal protection dispensations.
• Maintain contacts with property owners, authorities, and project management.
• Ensure land access together with land negotiators and project management as needed.
• Transfer knowledge and working methods to Trafikverket's employees.

Requirements (OBS, mandatory)

• University degree in Forestry of at least 3 years (180 ECTS credits).
• Valid B driving license.
• At least 3 years of experience working in tree safety projects along railways or power lines.
• At least 3 years of documented experience in risk tree inspections/inventories next to railways.
• At least 3 years of experience in project management/construction management within infrastructure projects.
• At least 3 years of experience in creating and working with GIS systems.
• SoS leader, BAS-ÄSKYDD (Safety and Health Coordinator).
• Completed the course on Electrical and Traffic Safety as well as electrical risk assessment at railways.
• Completed the course "Working Methods for Tree Felling Next to Railways".
• Fluent in Swedish, both spoken and written.

Merits

• You have a degree in Forestry Engineering (Jägmästarexamen).
