Hospitals in the West is an administration within the Region of Västra Götaland and consists of four hospitals – Alingsås Hospital, Angered Primary Hospital, Högsbo Primary Hospital, and Kungälv Hospital. Approximately 3,000 employees work with us every day to provide good, safe, and high-quality specialist healthcare.
About Us
The Specialist Centre for Children and Young People is part of Angered Primary Hospital. We consist of two equivalent child clinics, one in Angered and one in Gamlestaden. The operational area has approximately 90 employees. The work group consists of psychologists, specialist doctors in child and adolescent medicine, child psychiatry, and neurology, pediatric nurses, assistant nurses, social workers, speech therapists, dietitians, special educators, as well as medical secretaries and receptionists. Motivated and development-oriented employees work here, providing specialist healthcare based on the medical and psychological needs of children and young people. We see children aged 0–18 years, often with issues that include medical, social, and psychological aspects. Our clinics are open Monday to Friday during daytime, and we mostly have scheduled appointments.
We now wish to expand with a new colleague to our lovely clinic in Gamlestaden, and we are looking for you who are a licensed psychologist and have experience working with young children.
The operation has been assigned an additional, temporary task to offer psychological treatment to children aged 0–5 years with mild mental health issues. The task runs from June 2026 to December 2027. The operation works in close collaboration with the municipality's operations.
Job Description
As a psychologist, you are an important part of the work group. Your work mainly involves conducting assessments and providing psychological treatment for the children within the scope of the task. The work is carried out in close cooperation with other staff and managers.
The task involves offering psychological treatment methods for problems/symptoms that do not require specialist psychiatric interventions, as well as being able to assess the need for other care or support.
About You
We are looking for a licensed psychologist with a strong interest in working with children, young people, and their families. A requirement is that you have professional experience and feel confident in independently conducting assessments and treatments for young children aged 0–5 years. You have previous clinical experience working with this target group. It is an advantage if you have also worked with assessments of children with developmental neurological functional impairments.
Desirable qualifications:
- Experience from Mother and Child Health Care, Child Health Care, Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Mental Health of Young People, or Interaction Clinics.
- Training in VIPP-SD, WWW, CPP, DC:0–5, CBT, or other short-term and/or behavior-oriented treatment methods for young children.
Since the work involves collaborating with parents, different professional groups, and other healthcare providers, good teamwork skills are required. You work in a structured manner, are clear and organized, while also being flexible in your approach.
To thrive with us, you need to be able to work independently but also enjoy sharing knowledge with others. You must master the Swedish language in both speech and writing.
We place great emphasis on personal suitability.
Conditions
The employment is a temporary position until December 2027.
Other
We require extracts from the criminal record register for all offered positions within the Children and Young People's Operations.
