Psychiatry Department

We are Akademiska Sjukhuset – one of Sweden's leading university hospitals. As a county hospital and provider of highly specialized care, we offer healthcare to two million people in central Sweden. Something is always happening here – a new life is born, a grandmother undergoes surgery, a colleague is hailed as a hero. Here, you will experience both tough challenges and fantastic moments, within a strong community of colleagues. We welcome your application!

Our Operations

The Addiction Medicine Clinic is a unit within the Uppsala Region that provides specialized addiction care for adults. We are an outpatient clinic consisting of a team of specialist nurses, nurses, doctors, psychologists, and social workers who together meet people with an addiction disease and simultaneous psychiatric/somatic comorbidity.

The clinic is characterized by good collegial cohesion and an exciting, meaningful mission. We offer a workplace where you as an employee are given the opportunity to grow and make a difference.

The workplace is partly located in the Psychiatry House at Akademiska Sjukhuset. In addition to the clinic at the hospital, we also have mobile operations and an integrated addiction clinic in Tierp.

Your Role

As a nurse at the Addiction Medicine Clinic, you will play a central role in providing our patients with safe and supportive nursing care. You will collaborate with other units within specialist psychiatry as well as external healthcare providers and actors, such as social services and primary care, to ensure that the patient receives the help and support required even outside the clinic.

An important part of your work is to help patients strengthen their autonomy and promote self-care. By supporting them in taking responsibility for their own health and treatment, you contribute to improving their quality of life and opportunities for long-term recovery. You will be involved in developing and following up individual care plans, working to ensure that every patient receives the care and support they need to make progress in their rehabilitation. Your work also includes helping to develop routines and guidelines for nursing care, based on evidence and guiding care processes.

Your Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse; a specialist nurse education in psychiatry is an advantage.
  • Documented experience in nursing within psychiatric care, preferably within addiction care or specialist psychiatry.
  • Experience working in interdisciplinary teams and having a good understanding of collaboration between different healthcare professions.

Your Competence

As a person, you are sensitive, empathetic, and have the ability to meet each individual where they are. You have a great interest in nursing within addiction care and thrive in an environment where collaboration and flexibility are crucial to providing the best possible care.

You have a good ability to work both independently and as part of a team, and you easily build trust and good relationships with patients and colleagues. Since the patient group often has complex care needs, the work requires great commitment, patience, and a problem-solving attitude.

Personal suitability will be given great weight.

We Offer

We offer a permanent full-time position where a probationary period may apply. Start date according to agreement. Selection and appointment are made on an ongoing basis, so do not wait to send your application to us.

Here you will receive benefits that make a difference, read about the benefits here (https://regionuppsala.se/formaner/ (https://regionuppsala.se/formaner/)).

The Uppsala Region values the qualities that equal gender distribution and diversity bring to the operations and welcomes applicants of all genders and with different birth backgrounds, abilities, and life experiences.

The Uppsala Region mobilizes all permanent staff based on the needs of the total defense. This means no obligations for the individual employee in peacetime, but is solely a planning measure.

Before a decision on employment, a check of the suspicion and criminal records will be conducted for all job seekers who, in the sought employment, may come to work within psychiatric healthcare, habilitation, care of children and youth, or compulsory care of addicts, areas covered by optional record extracts. This thus applies to all who will work close to patients, even if the tasks at present are not intended to mainly involve work with the aforementioned patient groups.

This recruitment is conducted entirely through the Uppsala Region, and we decline phone calls from recruitment agencies and advertising sales.
