We are Akademiska sjukhuset – one of Sweden's leading university hospitals. As a county hospital and provider of highly specialized care, we offer healthcare to two million people in Central Sweden. Something is always happening here – a new life is born, a grandmother undergoes surgery, a colleague is hailed as a hero. Here, you will experience both tough challenges and fantastic events, within a strong community of colleagues. Our Operations

The Forensic Psychiatry Unit cares for patients who have been convicted of crimes and transferred to forensic psychiatric care. This means we receive patients with varying psychiatric conditions. At the unit, we work from a long-term perspective where, in addition to medication, nursing care, educational interventions, and psychological treatment with a focus on preventing recidivism are key components.

The Forensic Psychiatry Unit currently consists of two inpatient wards with a newly opened Security Level 2, Security Level 3, and an outpatient clinic. In April 2024, we moved to newly built premises in Jälla, outside Uppsala.

Experience and knowledge of leadership at a general level, supervision of students, and experience in quality and development work within psychiatric care are desirable and meritorious but not mandatory.

Your Competencies

You are interested in developing in the leadership role. You are firmly grounded in the profession's code of ethics and do not hesitate to put it into practical action in relation to both patients and employees. You are proud of your profession, have good analytical and reflective abilities, and contribute nursing expertise to improve and develop care. A permanent full-time position, day, evening, and weekend shifts, located at the Forensic Psychiatry Unit. Probation may be applied. Prior to employment, extracts from suspicion and criminal records will be obtained.

We offer stimulating work with great variation in tasks. Scientific improvement and development are seen as a natural part of the role. We offer professional supervision by a specialist nurse every week, and you have strong collegial support in the group. To ensure care quality, we actively work to develop a good and attractive working environment for nurses.
