About the Swedish Prison and Probation Service (Kriminalvården)

The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is growing – we are building new facilities, renovating, and expanding, and we are now looking for more employees. Our most important goal is to reduce reoffending – to break the vicious cycle. If we succeed, society will become safer and more secure for everyone. We are the agency responsible for prisons, probation, remand prisons, and client transport.

Within the operations of the Swedish Prison and Probation Service, there are more than 70 different professional roles, the majority being correctional officers but also other positions. The Recruitment Group in Region East belongs to the national unit for operation-oriented HR and works regionally within Region East to staff the region's prisons, remand prisons, and probation offices. The Recruitment Group in Region East consists of 13 Recruitment Specialists, one case officer, and a group manager located at the regional office in Linköping. You will work regularly on-site in the operational area you are responsible for.

Job Responsibilities

With prisons, remand prisons, probation offices, and the Swedish Prison and Probation Service's transport department as clients, you will primarily work with volume recruitment of correctional officers, as well as recruiting for other professional roles. You will work towards one or two of our operational areas where you are the contact person and the one who operationally holds together the recruitment processes for the area. You will conduct kick-off meetings, publish advertisements, make selections, plan and conduct interviews, handle administration, and everything else related to the recruitment process. You will collaborate closely with the managers and HR administrators of your operational area, as well as with your colleagues in the recruitment group.

The Swedish Prison and Probation Service works with competency-based recruitment and, as a government agency, we base our recruitment on merit and skill. Within the recruitment team, we also conduct security interviews and security clearances. The Swedish Prison and Probation Service strives to be an attractive and visible employer, and as a recruiter, you are therefore an important ambassador in our employer branding work by participating in attraction initiatives and in the digital channels where we communicate with our candidates.

In the recruitment group, employees take responsibility for a common goal and share valuable knowledge, while the work is largely driven independently. Working in a government agency means working in an operation governed by rules and routines, but also one where you contribute to change and new ways of thinking.

Qualifications

For the position of Recruitment Specialist, we are looking for you who work well together with others while also having an aptitude for building contacts and maintaining relationships. Furthermore, you are detail-oriented and place great importance on performing your work with high quality. You take responsibility for the tasks assigned to you and have the ability to independently plan, organize, and prioritize your work.

For us, it is important that you share the Swedish Prison and Probation Service's fundamental values regarding a humane view of humanity, respect for the individual, and belief in human will and ability to develop. You are also aware of and understand how background, culture, and group affiliation affect yourself and others. Furthermore, you are expected to contribute, through your attitude, to ensuring that everyone is treated equally. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

We are looking for you who have:

  • An academic degree/university degree in HR/PA or alternatively other education combined with experience that the Swedish Prison and Probation Service deems relevant
  • Experience in competency-based recruitment
  • Experience in all parts of the recruitment process
  • Experience working in recruitment systems
  • Good ability to express yourself well in spoken and written Swedish

It is meritorious if you have:

  • Experience in volume recruitment
  • Experience in recruitment within the public sector, preferably a government agency
  • Experience in recruitment within the Swedish Prison and Probation Service
  • Experience recruiting for security-classified positions
  • Experience working in a consultative support role
  • Experience working in Varbi
  • Experience with digital reference checking via Refensa
