We are looking for a Registered Nurse for Gynecology Ward 96C1 – Night Shift

We are Akademiska Sjukhuset – one of Sweden's leading university hospitals. As a county hospital and provider of highly specialized care, we offer healthcare to two million people in Central Sweden. Something is always happening here – a new life is born, a grandmother undergoes surgery, a colleague is hailed as a hero. Here, you will experience both tough challenges and fantastic moments, within a strong community of colleagues. We welcome your application!

Our Operations

Do you, like us, have a passion for women's health? Do you want to work with surgical care, emergency care, or do you have a dream of becoming a midwife in the future? Then we are the department for you!

The Women's Health area of operations comprises two sections: the Obstetrics Section and the Gynecology Section. Within the Gynecology Section, we have our care ward, Gynecology Ward 96C1, the gynecological specialist clinics including the gynecological emergency clinic, and the Reproduction Center. The Obstetrics Section includes the delivery ward, the neonatal ward, and the obstetric specialist clinics. We have close cooperation between our different units within the area of operations and are proud of the care we provide to our patients throughout the Healthcare Region of Central Sweden.

Approximately 1,600 patients from the entire Healthcare Region of Central Sweden receive care at Gynecology Ward 96C1 each year. We are very proud to be certified as a European Center for Advanced Ovarian Cancer Surgery and operate on approximately 80-100 women with ovarian cancer each year. We also provide national highly specialized care for certain cases of endometriosis, where the mission focuses on advanced surgery.

Patients of all ages with various gynecological conditions come through our emergency clinic for investigation, surgery, and treatment. At the abortion and contraception clinic, which falls under the gynecological specialist clinics, patients undergoing abortion up to gestational week 21+6 are cared for. As a nurse on the gynecology ward, your duties will also include assisting in these activities.

We also have close cooperation with other units within the Women's Health area of operations and care for certain obstetric patients.

Your Role

We are looking for someone interested in primarily working night shifts. You will care for patients who are being investigated and operated on for gynecological cancer and other gynecological diseases. You will also meet patients seeking emergency gynecological care, for example with infections or complications during early pregnancy, as well as patients undergoing abortion. At night, the gynecological emergency clinic moves into the ward's premises, and you will also work with receiving, triaging, and handling patients seeking emergency gynecological care.

Your Qualifications & Competencies

You are a registered nurse with a broad interest in women's health and surgical care. You are flexible, curious, and eager to learn, and you possess good communication skills both verbally and in writing. You value and contribute to a good collaborative climate.

What We Offer

We offer a permanent position with a scope of 100% or as agreed. Start date as agreed. For work primarily during night shifts, you will have a weekly working time of 32-34 hours per week. A trial period may apply.

Onboarding is planned for four weeks, with the possibility of extension. The onboarding will take place both at the gynecology ward during day and night shifts, as well as at the gynecological emergency clinic during the day.

With us, you receive benefits that make a difference; read about the benefits here (https://regionuppsala.se/formaner/ (https://regionuppsala.se/formaner/)).

Region Uppsala values the qualities that equal gender distribution and diversity bring to the operations and welcomes applicants of all genders and with different birth backgrounds, abilities, and life experiences.

Region Uppsala assigns all permanent staff to wartime duties based on the needs of the total defense. This entails no obligations for the individual employee in peacetime but is solely a planning measure.

Before a decision on employment, a check of suspicion and criminal records is conducted for all job seekers who, in the applied position, may come to work within psychiatric care, habilitation, care for children and adolescents, or compulsory care for substance abusers, areas covered by optional register extracts. This thus applies to all who will work close to patients, even if the tasks at present are not intended to mainly involve work with the aforementioned patient groups.

This recruitment is conducted entirely through Region Uppsala's own channels, and we decline phone calls from recruitment agencies and advertising sales representatives.
