Department of Geriatrics, Rehabilitation and Pain Centre
We are Akademiska Sjukhuset – one of Sweden's leading university hospitals. As a county hospital and provider of highly specialized care, we offer healthcare to two million people in central Sweden. Something is always happening here – a new life is born, a grandmother undergoes surgery, a colleague is hailed as a hero. Here, you will experience both tough challenges and fantastic moments, within a strong community of colleagues. We welcome your application!
Our Operations
The Department of Geriatrics, Rehabilitation Medicine and Pain Centre is characterized by multidisciplinary teams, something we are very proud of. Our department has a broad mandate where work is meaningful, exciting, and developmental. There are good opportunities to participate in development work and research; we translate new knowledge into care.
Within the geriatrics section, we provide highly specialized geriatric care for the elderly patient group. The department consists of three inpatient wards and a memory and geriatrics clinic.
Memory and Geriatrics Clinic
The Memory and Geriatrics Clinic is a geriatric outpatient clinic with three focus areas.
We provide day and home rehabilitation for geriatric patients, primarily those with stroke, Parkinson's disease, or osteoporosis, although patient groups may be expanded as the outpatient care plays a more significant role in the future. Here, the work is based on the multidisciplinary team, where our health professionals play a central role in rehabilitation. We have a multiprofessional team that collaborates around the patient.
We are a specialist clinic for the investigation and follow-up of individuals with suspected or diagnosed cognitive disease. Patients are referred to us.
The third pillar is research. We conduct clinical drug trials, academic investigator-initiated studies, and quality register studies, primarily within dementia diseases, but upcoming studies will also include other diseases.
Your Role
We need to strengthen our team with an occupational therapist and are now looking for you who wants to become our new colleague. The foundation of our work is the multiprofessional team, based on a holistic view of the patient.
At the day and home rehabilitation unit, the occupational therapist participates in referral assessments and team conferences together with the rest of the team and plans the patients' rehabilitation.
In home rehabilitation, the occupational therapist and physiotherapist usually visit the patient at home for new visits to assess rehabilitation needs after discharge from the hospital. The occupational therapist assesses hand function, need for assistive devices, and need for training in activities. Based on these results, an individual rehabilitation period is planned in consultation with the patient.
At day rehab, the occupational therapist participates in team follow-ups after stroke and conducts individual and group training for people who have had a stroke, as well as groups for people with Parkinson's.
At the memory clinic, the occupational therapist is part of the team and contributes to investigations regarding cognitive diseases through activity assessments and during information sessions for relatives.
In collaboration with doctors, the occupational therapist performs driving ability tests for patients who have had a stroke or have early dementia.
If interested, there is an opportunity to take on a role in the research conducted at the clinic, in the form of various rating scales.
Your Qualifications
We are looking for you who are a licensed occupational therapist, preferably with a few years of experience from clinical work in neurology and/or knowledge about cognition, as well as experience in teamwork. If you have experience from home healthcare/rehabilitation, we see this as meritorious. You should have a genuine interest in the elderly patient. If you are newly graduated but find this interesting, you are certainly welcome to apply.
The work involves close contact with patients and relatives, which requires good interpersonal skills, flexibility, and good collaboration skills. You have the ability to prioritize and create structure among your various tasks. Since we have different parts of our clinic, there is an opportunity for varied work if desired. We work systematically to improve operations, so if you want to influence and bring good ideas, we see this as positive.
In our recruitment, we will place great emphasis on personal suitability.
A B-class driver's license is required.
Here, you will get a fun and varied job together with wonderful colleagues. Welcome with your application!
