Do you want a meaningful job? Are you empathetic, solution-oriented, and capable of making decisions? Why not apply for one of society's most important jobs, where you and your colleagues create security for everyone in need of healthcare – 24/7, all year round.
Our Operations
The Healthcare Dispatch Center is responsible for medical prioritization and dispatching of ambulance resources within the four regions of Uppsala, Västmanland, Sörmland, and Värmland. Together, we serve approximately 1,300,000 inhabitants. The centers are located in Uppsala, Västerås, Eskilstuna, and Karlstad. Since 2018, we are also present in the Region of Västra Götaland. Consequently, the Healthcare Dispatch Center serves almost a quarter of Sweden's population. The Healthcare Dispatch Center Uppsala is part of the ambulance care within Region Uppsala. The Healthcare Dispatch Center was nominated for the Gold Scalpel in 2017, and the medical decision support system used has won the Prehospital Prize.

Your Role
As a nurse at the Healthcare Dispatch Center, you receive calls from those in need of help who dial 112. Every call results in a medical assessment, prioritization, and action. Your task is to quickly assess acute conditions/events and, through a structured working method, identify the need for ambulance care. You do this based on your own competence using unique medical decision support. Collaboration with SOS Alarm, rescue services, police, and other healthcare providers is also part of the work, as is referring patients to the correct level of care.
Your Qualifications
We are looking for you who are a registered nurse with at least two years of experience. You must be able to give instructions in acute medical conditions and be able to think on your feet and adapt. For the position, it is required that you are empathetic, solution-oriented, and capable of making decisions based on the information you receive during the call.
Since the work is based on the connection between technology and humans, you need to have an interest in both parts. The tasks require that you master the Swedish language fully in both speech and writing. You also have good knowledge of English. Additional language skills are considered meritorious. Great importance is attached to personal suitability. It is meritorious if you have experience from emergency care and/or telephone advice.
What We Offer
We offer a permanent position with start date as agreed. The position is full-time with shifts during the day, evening, and night. We have a favorable working time model and provide introductory training and mentoring when you start with us. There are good opportunities for competence development as ambulance care has its own educational organization.

Remember to attach a CV and two references (of which at least one must have been your manager). Before appointment, extracts from the police's suspicion and criminal record register will be taken.
Region Uppsala values the qualities that equal gender distribution and diversity bring to the operations and welcomes applicants of all genders and with different birth backgrounds, functionalities, and life experiences.
Region Uppsala assigns all permanent staff for wartime duties based on the needs of the total defense. This entails no obligations for the individual employee in peacetime but is solely a planning measure.
Before a decision on employment, a check of the suspicion and criminal record register is conducted for all job seekers who, in the sought employment, may come to work within psychiatric care, habilitation, care of children and youth, or compulsory care of addicts, areas covered by optional register extracts. This therefore applies to all who will work close to patients, even if the tasks at present are not intended to primarily contain work with the aforementioned patient groups.
This recruitment is conducted entirely through Region Uppsala, and we decline phone calls from recruitment agencies and advertising sales representatives.
