Care Coordinator/Operations Coordinator at Akademiska Barnsjukhuset
Small hearts need great care!
We are a small hospital within a large system, and it is precisely in this intimacy that our greatness lies. Here, we house all the expertise a sick child might need, fostering good collaboration, respect, and care. We offer an excellent introduction for new employees and many interesting opportunities for development. Here, there is also unexpectedly much joy in what can sometimes be very difficult. We take care of the children and their families, and we take care of each other – because we know we do a much better job together!
Our Operations
At Akademiska Barnsjukhuset, a large amount of pediatric care is planned and executed, a significant portion of which is complex and highly specialized. Care involving multiple different actors requires good coordination. Therefore, within the children's hospital, there are both operations coordinators and care coordinators working to ensure that the various parts of care are coordinated in a patient-safe and efficient manner.
We are now strengthening our coordinator group with a combined position as Care Coordinator/Operations Coordinator, with a primary focus on specialized pediatric patient groups.
Within the Department of Specialized Pediatrics, we have obtained several permits for National Highly Specialized Care (NHV). These include gendermatosis in collaboration with the dermatology clinic, intestinal rehabilitation for children, rare kidney diseases, and skeletal dysplasias. Two of these assignments are ongoing, and two are in the startup phase.
This is advanced pediatric care that is largely already being provided today, but where the need for strengthened and structured coordination is great to ensure cohesive, efficient, and patient-safe care for our patients and their families.
Your Role
As a Care Coordinator/Operations Coordinator, you play a central role in coordinating care for children with complex and highly specialized care needs. You work in close collaboration with a broad network of professions within the children's hospital, including anesthesia, pediatric surgery, radiology, interventional radiology, clinical physiology, as well as ophthalmology and plastic surgery.
An important part of the role is communication with patients and their guardians. You are responsible for planning, information, and guidance prior to procedures and examinations, contributing to creating security and clarity throughout the entire care process.
You collaborate closely with the operations coordinators within pediatric surgery, who work with similar processes and, in many cases, with the same care providers. Together, you ensure efficient, cohesive, and patient-safe planning.
We are in a development phase where we are strengthening and further developing the coordination function at Akademiska Barnsjukhuset to create a less vulnerable and more robust organization. This means the role is dynamic and will be shaped over time – with the opportunity for you to actively contribute to the development of working methods, structures, and collaborations.
Your Qualifications
You have extensive experience in pediatric care and are preferably a specialist nurse in pediatrics. Other relevant healthcare education may also be relevant for you with the right background and experience.
We would like you to have experience in coordination roles within healthcare and be administratively skilled. It is also meritorious to have experience driving projects and collaborating at regional and national levels.
You are structured, communicative, and have an aptitude for building trust-based collaborations in complex contexts. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.
What We Offer
We offer a permanent position at Akademiska Barnsjukhuset, with a start date by agreement, preferably as soon as possible. Full-time or part-time can be discussed.
You will become part of a developing operation, where you will have the opportunity to contribute to and influence how future coordination work within highly specialized pediatric care is designed. With us, you receive benefits that make a difference; read about the benefits here: Region Uppsala Benefits (https://regionuppsala.se/formaner/).
