Statens institutionsstyrelse (SiS) is a government agency responsible for providing individually adapted compulsory care for young people with complex psychosocial problems and for adults with substance abuse issues. SiS also implements closed youth care. We do this at youth homes and homes for adults with substance abuse issues across the country. Working at SiS means your professional life will be an exciting challenge. No matter where you work in our organization or what role you have, you help create life-changing change.
SiS Youth Home Vemyra, located outside Sollefteå, admits school-age boys up to 16 years old with psychosocial problems, as well as those involved in crime and substance abuse.
Job Description
Do you want to be part of creating life-changing change for vulnerable people? Then the role of Treatment Pedagogue at SiS is a meaningful challenge. As a Treatment Pedagogue, you work in a team together with treatment assistants and treatment coordinators. Together, you are responsible for ensuring that the young people and clients living with us receive the safety, care, and treatment they need. We often encounter people in crisis, which means you will work with qualified nursing and motivational work, as well as providing support in daily life. With the help of your knowledge in care and treatment work, you actively contribute to the completion of treatment plans. Documentation is an important part of your job, contributing to legal security, planning, and follow-up of our operations. You contribute to maintaining safety according to our routines and help ensure that daily life flows smoothly with school attendance, cleaning, cooking, etc. Contact person responsibilities are also part of your duties. The job may also involve mentoring new employees and interns. This is a job for you if you see a positive challenge in working with vulnerable people in difficult life situations. The job is often demanding but also stimulating, joyful, and varied.
Our vision is to be a place for change, and this permeates our approach, our commitment, and our attitude.
Working hours are according to a night shift schedule.
As a new employee, you will undergo SiS basic training for 10 weeks. The training alternates between theory and supervised introduction, preparing you for the therapist role in SiS operations.
Qualifications
To succeed in your work, you have a solid positive view of humanity. You are motivated to help people in vulnerable life situations and share SiS's value base of being a place for change. Furthermore, you have a good ability to create engagement and participation among our young people. As a person, you are secure in yourself and easily build relationships with young people as well as with other staff members. You have good communication skills and can maintain your calm even in pressured situations. You cooperate well with others and can handle conflicts constructively.
You must also have:
- A degree from a 2-year post-secondary education at a folk high school or university college (KY/YH) with a focus on social/pedagogical treatment work, or university education that we assess as equivalent
- Category B driver's license
- Good Swedish language skills (spoken and written)
It is an advantage if you have:

- Experience from client-facing positions at the Swedish Prison and Probation Service, e.g., Prison Officer
- Security guard training
- Education in care and nursing
- Experience working with our target group of young boys
