The National Board of Institutional Care (SiS) is a government agency responsible for individualized compulsory care for young people with complex psychosocial problems and for adults with substance abuse issues. SiS also operates closed youth care facilities. We do this through youth homes and homes for adults with substance abuse problems across the country. SiS Youth Home Vemyra, located outside Sollefteå, receives school-age boys up to 16 years old with psychosocial problems, as well as those involved in crime and substance abuse.

Job Description

Do you want to make a vital difference for vulnerable people? Then the role of Treatment Assistant at SiS is a meaningful challenge. The goal of your assignment is to motivate our young people/clients towards new and less risky ways of living. As a Treatment Assistant, you are employed to provide care and treatment. You contribute to ensuring that routines on the ward function as they should. You play a major role in the stability and security of our young people/clients, and handle the basics of daily life such as (school attendance), cleaning, cooking, etc. You help maintain order and security at the institution according to our routines. Documentation is an important part of your work. You will work on building safe relationships and contribute to ensuring our young people/clients receive the security and safety they need to break habitual behaviors. Together with your team of dedicated colleagues, such as treatment pedagogues and treatment coordinators, you have the opportunity to achieve good results and contribute to change. The job is often demanding but also stimulating, joyful, and varied.

Working hours are according to a night shift schedule.

As a new employee, you will undergo SiS basic training for 10 weeks. The training alternates between theory and supervised introduction, preparing you for the treatment role in SiS operations.

Qualifications

Your personal suitability is the key to life-changing change. Therefore, you need to have a good ability to create engagement and participation. Equally important is that you have a solid positive view of humanity, great empathetic ability, and the ability to build good relationships. You have good communication skills and can maintain your calm even in pressurized situations. You also have the ability to collaborate with others and are happy to share your knowledge with colleagues.

You must also have:

  • At least a 2-year post-secondary education from a folk high school or university college (KY/YH) or other education equivalent to this. The education should be focused on social work, social pedagogy, behavioral science, or another relevant subject area.*
  • Category B driver's license
  • Good proficiency in Swedish, both spoken and written

Meritorious:

  • Experience from client-facing positions in the Swedish Prison and Probation Service, e.g., Prison Officer
  • Security Guard Training
  • Education within care and nursing
  • Experience working with our target group, young boys

*Exceptions to the requirement of at least two years of post-secondary education can be made in individual cases if there are special reasons according to Chapter 5, Section 4 of the Social Services Ordinance (2025:468).

Employment

The position is a permanent employment. The position is a part-time employment at 85.1% and begins with a six-month probation period.

Start date: According to agreement.
