Do you want to be part of the team working towards a stronger defense of Sweden? The Swedish Armed Forces are in an expansion phase and we are now looking for you, a licensed specialist physician, to join the Center for Defense Medicine.

About the Unit

The Swedish Armed Forces School of Defense Medicine (FSS) is a joint resource that conducts training, exercises, and drills within defense medicine. The position is located on the Simulation and Methods Department, which conducts exercises, training, and development of defense medical simulation and pedagogical methods with the aim of training qualified medical units of military formations.

Main Responsibilities

As a training physician, your main tasks involve the implementation, development, and follow-up of advanced medical simulation. The most advanced medical simulation is conducted through Live Tissue Training (LTT), used in accordance with the 3R principles, the Animal Welfare Act, and internal regulations of the Swedish Armed Forces. The development work aims to improve our pedagogical methods according to the 3R principles, which stand for Replace, Reduce, and Refine.

Examples of tasks include developing, planning, implementing, and evaluating training and exercises as the medically responsible physician or instructor, primarily within the framework of LTT and other medical simulation. You will also act as an instructor in medical services within the framework of training or exercises conducted by FSS, such as in war surgery or advanced medical resuscitation. Since we conduct exercises at other units' medical teams, the position involves regular business travel outside the workplace. The Swedish Armed Forces are growing, and the duties may develop further.

Qualifications

• Licensed specialist physician, primarily in surgery or anesthesia.
• At least three years of experience in your specialty.
• Officer education, specialist officer education, or reserve officer education/employment.
• Experience working in defense medicine within the Swedish Armed Forces.
• Experience in developing and leading training.
• Valid driver's license (Category B).
• Good ability to express yourself in speech and writing in English.

Information about the Swedish Armed Forces and the recruiting unit:
The Center for Defense Medicine (FömedC) is the Swedish Armed Forces' center for the defense medicine function, located in Gothenburg. FömedC consists of a leadership with staff, the Swedish Armed Forces School of Defense Medicine (FSS), the Functional Unit (FunkE), and the Hospital Battalion (Sjhbat).
