to apply for the job
In the autumn of 2026, JENSEN will open a new primary school for grades F-9 in Steninge, Sigtuna Municipality. The school has already aroused great interest and has nearly 500 students on the waiting list.
JENSEN Primary School Steninge is being built in the picturesque area near Steninge Castle Village, and the idea behind the architecture is that the school should blend into the historical environment in the form of a beautiful and classic school. The school will be two-parallel and will offer pre-school class up to grade nine. A separate sports hall, adapted special rooms, and a dedicated kitchen will also be built, where students can be offered nutritious and delicious meals daily, prepared on-site by a head chef. Here we serve meals according to the JENSEN Kitchen concept, healthy and sustainable for an active and learning life.
We are now looking for a driven and engaged chef who wants to become part of our team!
You will take overall responsibility for the kitchen and all meals for students and educators, as well as cooking healthy and nutritious food from scratch using JENSEN's guidelines. You need to be self-sufficient and also responsible for dishes, product orders, and EKP (Electronic Kitchen Planning), as well as contribute to a positive dialogue between other departments. Here you get the chance to help lay the foundation for many children's lifelong healthy eating habits!
You will have the opportunity to influence the menus together with other chefs at JENSEN schools, plan your own work, and implement your own ideas locally and on a larger scale within JENSEN's generous guidelines. The work is carried out in new premises and a well-equipped kitchen where everything is available.
Our meals aim to be high-quality, nutritious, and varied. We have a sustainability mindset and work actively to utilize raw materials in the best possible way. In addition, you share our thoughts on the importance of safeguarding children's health and well-being, including by actively working to reduce the amount of refined sugar they consume.
With us, you take on overall responsibility, which you take very seriously. In addition, you have a strong desire to brighten the children's day by offering them the "little extra" that your engagement with food can give them.
Job Responsibilities
The work includes both planning and preparation of lunch, snacks, and dishes. You are responsible for refilling the food and ensuring that the buffets in the dining hall are clean, both during lunch and after lunch. You are also responsible for special diets. Follow-up and self-control are part of the role, and you are expected to be able to create good routines that follow the rules for food handling, such as ensuring that refrigerators, kitchen areas, and machines are in good condition and clean according to HACCP standards.
What We Are Looking For
We are now looking for you who have a burning interest in cooking good, varied, and healthy food. You want to give children the opportunity for new taste experiences and the feeling that food is both fun and delicious!
The work in the kitchen is both independent and very social; the person who cooks food is an important person, and you should feel like a part of the operation. You are a creative and idea-rich cook who likes to take initiative. You are responsible and have great cooperation skills with both children and adults.
You have chef training, or other equivalent education that the employer deems suitable. A prerequisite for handling the work is that you are quality-conscious and have good knowledge of allergies, special diets, nutrition, and good health. It is also important that you are flexible and self-sufficient as the work may involve rapid changes. Basic computer skills are necessary.
Employment Type
The position is a permanent full-time position (100%) starting in August, or as agreed. For this position, we apply a 6-month probation period.
