Forensic Psychiatry in Kristinehamn is looking for a senior physician with an interest in development and long-term patient care. There is also an opportunity to combine this role with that of Chief Physician. Do you want to contribute to the further development of forensic psychiatry in Region Värmland? Your workplace

Forensic Psychiatry in Värmland is located in Kristinehamn with good commuting possibilities to both Karlstad and Örebro. The operation currently comprises 32 approved inpatient beds in Kristinehamn, of which 10 beds have security class 2 and 22 beds have security class 3. We also have an inpatient unit in Karlstad with 10 approved care beds in security class 3, as well as approximately 10 patients in forensic psychiatric outpatient care. Around 90 employees work here, many with long and extensive experience in psychiatry and forensic psychiatry. Work is carried out close to the patient in multidisciplinary teams where doctors, nurses, care assistants, occupational therapists, social workers, and psychologists collaborate. We strive for continuous development in order to improve care for our patients. The medical group plays an important role in the development work of the operation, and we have a positive attitude towards education, competence development, and individual professional development.

The operation is in an expansion phase, and a decision has recently been made to build a new inpatient unit in security class 3 with 14 care beds in Kristinehamn, which is an important and positive step in the continued development of the operation.

  • Permanent full-time position. Working hours are scheduled 8–17 or as agreed.

  • For those interested, there is an opportunity to undergo specialist training (ST) in forensic psychiatry.

Your responsibilities

As a doctor in forensic psychiatry, you will have the opportunity to follow your patients over a longer period and work with both treatment as well as habilitation and rehabilitation. The patient group often has complex psychiatric issues, such as psychosis, usually in combination with comorbidities such as autism spectrum disorders, intellectual disability, and/or substance abuse.

On-call duty is included in the position. The operation has its own back-on-call line within the region, meaning that on-call duties are shared between doctors on weekdays and weekends.

In the role of Chief Physician:

  • You have good medical knowledge and competence for the task of being the medically and legally responsible person in the operation.
  • You participate in the management group's work.

Your knowledge and competencies

We are looking for you who have a genuine commitment to forensic psychiatry and who want to actively contribute to the continued development of the operation within Region Värmland. You have a Swedish medical license and are a specialist in psychiatry, or alternatively, you are in the final phase of your specialist training. Experience working in forensic psychiatry is meritorious, as is experience from general practice.

You have good knowledge of Swedish and a well-developed ability to communicate and collaborate with both your own team and external partners. Great emphasis will be placed on personal qualities.
