Do you want a central role where you create structure, ensure quality, and provide the workshop with the right prerequisites? We are now looking for a Preparation Specialist at BS Verkstäder – a key function in our continued development within railway maintenance and vehicle projects.

BS Verkstäder is a privately owned company characterized by an entrepreneurial spirit, good business contacts, high job satisfaction, and a positive collaborative climate. We work with service, maintenance, repairs, conversions, and new construction of railway vehicles and work machines. With our own mechanical workshop, broad technical competence, and a strong project portfolio, we are in an expansion phase.

We are now looking for a Preparation Specialist with an eye for the big picture, details, and collaboration, who wants to plan, coordinate, and optimize our production in a varied and technically complex operation.

About the role

As a Preparation Specialist, you are the link between the customer, planning, and production. You are responsible for ensuring that jobs are properly prepared before they reach the workshop and that completed jobs are followed up and documented correctly. The role combines technical, administrative, and coordinating work.

Our operations

We work with all types of railway vehicles, including:

• Work machines
• Freight wagons
• Electric and diesel locomotives
• Multiple unit trains (electric and diesel)
• Passenger coaches

Common tasks for us include:

• Life extension and conversions
• Design and manufacturing of new machines
• Collision damage repair
• Service and maintenance
• Installation of train protection systems, such as ETCS

Responsibilities

The role includes among other things:

• Prepare and process work orders prior to maintenance and work
• Review customer inquiries and orders, and receive and plan new assignments
• Ensure that orders are issued correctly, including according to the ECM regulation
• Create orders and projects in Monitor
• Produce the correct technical documentation, such as maintenance instructions, checklists, and action lists
• Roughly time-calculate jobs and plan production together with the Production Manager, Production Supervisor, and Project Manager
• Prepare pick lists, review material needs, and initiate material purchases administratively
• Participate in production meetings
• Perform or delegate inspections
• Compile final documentation and handle invoicing documents
• Handle practical support functions such as alarm and key management, gate routines, and tool trolleys
• Work to provide the workshop with the best possible conditions in daily operations

Who are you?

We are looking for someone who has:

• Good technical understanding of workshop, maintenance, or industrial operations
• Knowledge of vehicle construction and technical systems
• Interest in regulations, standards, and maintenance directives
• Ability to work in a structured manner and see the big picture in a flow
• Experience with administrative systems (experience with Monitor is meritorious)

Experience in preparation, planning, production technology, or work within the railway industry is highly meritorious.
