Region Uppsala has a long tradition and experience in specialist training for dentists. Currently, specialist training is being conducted by 4 dentists in the region under a common study director.

Your Role

Public Dental Service in Uppsala is now advertising a national Specialist Training (ST) position in Periodontology. On the Periodontology Department, you will collaborate with experienced colleagues in an stimulating environment where supervision, research, and clinical development are a natural part of daily life. The training is divided into clinical work at Specialist Dental Care Kaniken Uppsala and theoretical studies at the Centre for Specialist Dental Care in Örebro. The final structure of the position is individual and determined in consultation between the ST candidate, the dental administration, the authorized specialist training clinic, and the periodontology clinic.

Duties at the periodontology clinic include:

• Diagnosis, treatment planning, and treatment of referred patients with periodontal and peri-implant issues
• Implant treatment
• Soft tissue surgery
• Collaboration with general dentistry, other specialist dental care, and healthcare
• Consultation services
• Scientific deepening/participation in research projects
• Education/teaching

Your Qualifications

Aside from a strong interest in the subject area, we also look for a pedagogical interest in conveying knowledge to general dentistry and other parts of healthcare. Selection is made according to the NSATS merit rating system. Eligible applicants must be licensed dentists and have completed at least 2 years of general practice on a full-time basis. Previous experience in the subject area, scientific work, diploma courses, side-training courses, and pedagogical experience are meritorious. Personal qualities are highly valued, and we would like you to be outgoing and flexible, showing initiative, teamwork skills, and openness.

We hope that after completing your training, you wish to work as a specialist within Specialist Dental Care Region Uppsala. Start date is by agreement, but the training is planned to begin in autumn 2026.
