Child and Student Health Unit

The scope of the Child and Student Health Unit covers special pedagogy, medicine, social work, and psychology. The unit has a mandate covering children and students from preschool to upper secondary school within municipal operations. The mandate largely involves contributing to creating conditions that promote children's and students' learning, development, and health.

The Child and Student Health Service plays an advisory and consultative role at the individual, group, and organizational levels. The unit consists of a preschool team, a school team, and school psychologists centrally located, as well as counselors and school nurses placed at the municipality's schools.

The Psychology Team

We are looking for a psychologist to join our central team in the Child and Student Health Unit. The psychology team consists of four psychologists, one of whom holds the leadership responsibility. The psychologists share office space in common premises with other employees within the central student health service in Bålsta.

The collegial collaboration within the psychology team creates good conditions for personal development and for developing student health work. The team has regular group supervision for professional development and consultation. As a psychologist, you contribute to health-promoting school development with the goal that all students achieve knowledge goals. Student health work involves creating opportunities for change and development from a holistic perspective, an inclusive approach, and a salutogenic mindset.

Job Responsibilities

The work as a psychologist is highly varied and stimulating. Each psychologist participates in student health work at two or three schools and is part of the school's student health team.

Your Responsibilities

• Provide psychological competence as support in pedagogical work and in the overall planning of student health services.
• Collaborate closely with teachers and work teams to contribute to early interventions for students in need of special support.
• Provide supervision and consultation to school staff.
• Contribute psychological knowledge about protective and risk factors for students' health, learning, and development, e.g., through training initiatives.
• Conduct assessments, investigations, and evaluations of individual students to contribute understanding of barriers to learning from a psychological perspective.
• Participate in various types of conversations/consultations with parents, students, and school staff.
• Contribute competence and support in connection with crisis management.

As a psychologist, together with the psychology team and other professions in the central Child and Student Health Service, you are involved in initiating and participating in the planning, coordination, and implementation of various training initiatives for different staff groups in municipal schools.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are a licensed psychologist and have at least a couple of years of work experience in the profession. You have experience working with children and young people. You are a stable and flexible person with the ability to find creative solutions to emerging challenges. You have good skills in collaborating and building good relationships. You work independently and systematically, taking personal responsibility for the entire assignment, and have the ability to take own initiatives within the assignment.
