Job Description

SiS Youth Home Johannisberg is a high-security institution beautifully located next to the Kalix River, adjacent to the quiet residential area of Grytnäs. The institution is in a phase of development and expansion, with ongoing work on increased staffing and security. Our target group in Kalix consists of boys aged 16–21, placed under the Act on Care of Young Persons in Special Care (Lsu) and the Act on Care of Young Persons (LVO). All work is permeated by our core values: Respect, Care, and Clarity.

As a new employee, you will be offered a thorough introduction and supervision with an experienced colleague, basic training, and competence development in areas such as security, dealing with illegal influence, conflict management, CPR, and more.

As a Treatment Pedagogue, you work in a team on the ward together with competent colleagues who are looking forward to you joining the team. Together with your colleagues, you are responsible for ensuring that the young people living with us receive the safety, care, and treatment they need. You are a support to the young people in their daily lives and work with qualified care and motivational work. Contact person duties are part of your tasks. In daily work, this involves building safe relationships and motivating our young people towards new and less risky ways of living. With your knowledge in care and treatment work, you actively contribute to the fulfillment of treatment plans and documentation, as well as maintaining safety for both young people and staff according to our routines. As a Treatment Pedagogue, you also help ensure that daily life runs smoothly with school attendance, cleaning, cooking, etc. The role may also involve supervising new employees and interns. This is a job for you if you see a positive challenge in working with people in complex life situations to create change. The job is often demanding but also stimulating, joyful, and varied.

Working hours are scheduled according to a rotating roster including days, evenings, and weekends.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have the ability to build trusting relationships with our young people. You have a positive view of people, and your drive is to work with young people. As a person, you relate to people in a listening and flexible manner, while still being able to set boundaries and follow decisions made. You are secure, stable, and able to maintain a professional attitude even in pressured situations. You work well with others and are willing to share your knowledge with colleagues.

You must also have:

• At least a 2-year post-secondary education from a folk high school or university college (KY/YH) or equivalent education. The education should be focused on social work, social pedagogy, behavioral science, or another relevant subject area.
• Good command of Swedish, both spoken and written.
• Good physical fitness.

Please attach proof of your post-secondary education to your application. Diplomas issued in other countries must be translated and validated in Sweden via the Swedish Council for Higher Education (UHR).

Merits:

• Experience working with people in vulnerable life situations, for example within correctional services, psychiatry, care and nursing, or equivalent.
• Category B driver's license.

Employment

The positions are permanent full-time employment, starting with a 6-month probationary period. Start date by agreement.
