Personal Assistant for a Newly Established Assignment

We are looking for safe, warm, and skilled personal assistants for a newly established assignment where both permanent positions and hourly vacancies are offered. The assignment involves a client who communicates via a speech-generating device (Augmentative and Alternative Communication, AAC) as they cannot speak verbally. They can use one hand and sit in a wheelchair. The person requires tube feeding and has a urinary catheter system via the stomach, needing care based on these medical conditions. Adult children of the client also live in the home and are involved in daily life. The client appreciates cooking, has a good sense of humor, and is emotionally open — a family background with an interest in horses may mean horse-related activities occur or that animals and outdoor activities are important for well-being.

As an assistant, you will become an important part of creating a safe, dignified, and happy daily life. Duties include support in personal hygiene, transfers using lifting and transfer techniques, handling of tube and catheter-related routines according to current guidelines and training, cooking and meal support based on the client's interests, communication support with the speech-generating device, as well as social and emotional support. You will plan and carry out activities that strengthen the client's participation and quality of life — e.g., cooking together, conversations, short excursions, or accompanying to activities.

We are looking for you who are sensitive, confident in care situations, and can create a calm and positive atmosphere. You will have the opportunity to be involved from the start in a newly established assignment. Positions can be offered full-time/part-time/as needed depending on your preferences and the assignment's needs.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Experience working as a personal assistant, nursing assistant, or equivalent is meritorious.
  • Experience with or willingness to work with Augmentative and Alternative Communication (speech-generating device/AAC).
  • Knowledge of or willingness to be trained in tube and catheter care according to current guidelines.
  • Experience with transfers and lifting techniques, especially ReTurner.
  • Good ability to document, follow routines, and good computer skills as some mandatory tasks are performed digitally.
  • Requirement for police certificate: a extract from the criminal record will be required.
  • Language: good knowledge of Swedish in speech and writing.
