Do you want to use your technical expertise to create real climate benefits while building up a data platform in an innovative startup?
EKEN is looking for a curious and solution-oriented Data Engineer who wants to play a central role in how data is structured, processed, and used to develop sustainable forestry of the future.
About EKEN
EKEN operates at the intersection of forestry, climate, tech, and finance. We are developing a business model where forests are converted into new, long-term revenue streams through certified carbon credits in a growing European market.
By measuring, certifying, and selling the forest's carbon sequestration, we create new revenue streams for forest owners, while companies gain access to high-quality carbon credits to meet their climate goals. Using data, analytics, and in-house developed technical solutions, we are building a scalable business model for recurring revenue over time.
About the Role
As a Data Engineer at EKEN, you work with large-scale data processing as part of our information platform. The focus is on building and optimizing data pipelines, modeling data for analysis and reporting, and ensuring high data quality throughout the entire flow, from raw data to finished and reproducible data models.
You work closely with both developers and the business to enable data-driven decisions. At the same time, you contribute to the development of our data architecture, including data lakes, ETL and ELT flows, data change management, and Business Intelligence for operational decisions.
An important part of the work is ensuring that data is traceable, consistent, and reproducible over time. It must also support internal systems and operational decisions.
You are also responsible for creating control and clarity in the data platform. This is done through monitoring, logging, and a clear structure for how data is stored, versioned, and used for analysis and reporting.
We believe you have
- At least three years of relevant post-secondary education
- Professional experience in data engineering, data processing, or data pipelines
- Experience with Python, ETL, or ELT flows
- Proficiency in working with SQL, databases, and large datasets
- Understanding of how data is modeled, structured, and quality assured
- Interest in data platforms, data architecture, or cloud environments
- Good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written
It is also an advantage if you have
- Experience with orchestration, such as Airflow, Prefect, or similar tools
- Understanding of data lakes, versioning, or data change management
Why EKEN?
- Opportunity to influence how the data platform and data flows are built from the ground up
- Work with technology that creates real climate impact
- Great opportunity to influence architecture and technical solutions
- Central office at Klarabergsviadukten in Stockholm
- Flexible working hours and hybrid work options
- Wellness allowance of 5,000 SEK, health insurance, and 30 days of vacation
