Department of Clinical Sciences

Are you a small animal veterinarian who enjoys client interaction and delivering first-class veterinary care? Do you want to contribute to making future veterinary nurses and veterinarians feel included and motivated during their clinical training? Are you perhaps interested in participating in a clinical research project? All of this is possible if you work with us at the small animal department of the University Hospital for Animals! We welcome your application!

About the Job

As a licensed veterinarian at UDS, you will work in a varied daily routine in a 24/7 operation at Sweden's only university animal hospital.

Since SLU is the only educational institution for animal health personnel, you will be involved in the education of future veterinarians and veterinary nurses.

The role includes working evenings, nights, and weekends. Since March 2026, the operation has resumed 24/7 service after a period of limited opening hours.

Your Background

You are a licensed veterinarian with the right to practice veterinary medicine in Sweden. It is an advantage if you are an independent emergency veterinarian and feel confident with medical assessments and emergency surgery. Similarly, if you have Step 1 competence in dog and cat diseases or equivalent.

Good knowledge of English and/or a Scandinavian language is required.

At the University Hospital for Animals, we are customer-focused and value a professional approach. You are communicative with a good ability to create and maintain good relationships with clients and colleagues. You are interested in teaching and participating in creating good conditions for research. As a veterinarian at the university hospital, you have a scientific approach and an interest in evidence-based care.

As a person, you are structured, have good self-awareness, an understanding of what stresses you, and a willingness to contribute to the operation. You know that an event-driven emergency operation with irregular working hours is something you can handle. In this recruitment, we will place great emphasis on your personal skills.
