About this vacancy
Are you an engaged teacher who loves to teach and would thrive in an international environment?
We at IES Halmstad are currently looking for a Special Needs Teacher in Mathematics, Swedish, and Physical Education, with the qualification to teach students in grades 4–9. It is an asset if you have experience working with students with intellectual disabilities or students admitted to the adapted primary school.
The position is a permanent full-time job (100%) starting in August 2026.
The Workplace
IES Halmstad is a popular independent school for students in grades 4–9 with around 600 students and 70 employees. Whether you are new to the profession or have already worked for several years, we believe IES Halmstad could be your next step. For those new to the profession, there is plenty of support available at the school, both from your colleagues and from our Academic Manager, who is happy to help with planning, follow-up, and structure. For those who are already established teachers, the school offers an inspiring international environment where the structure and order allow you to spend more of your working time on teaching and learning and minimal time on disciplinary issues, which we consider an important part of a pleasant and positive work environment.
We believe in our method, the IES Ethos, that with a clear focus on mastering the English language, study peace, security, and respect, we can build a positive school environment that is permissive and inclusive – and that yields good school results. You agree, just like us, that a teacher should focus on teaching and developing their profession together with others, and otherwise, there should be good support structures for everything from student welfare, cleaning, IT support to collegial collaboration. We follow the Swedish curriculum with teaching in both Swedish and English.
The Position
We are looking for a licensed teacher who will become part of a creative and experienced team where you are responsible for your own lesson planning. We work closely together in our subject groups with subject development and cross-curricular themes. We are looking for a creative team player who wants to be part of a staff group where we work together to create a high-quality education at our school.

You work to create accessible environments and have an understanding that all people have different prerequisites and absorb knowledge in different ways.
