Do you want to work like private actors while enjoying the security and benefits of the Region?
Now is your chance!
We are looking for a driven and engaged sterile processing technician for the Unit for Planned Operations in Sala (EPOS), Region Västmanland's high-productivity hip and knee prosthesis unit within the Orthopedic Clinic.
At EPOS, all staff are employed by the unit, from anesthesiologists to sterile processing technicians. This creates an efficient care chain similar to that of private actors, but with the advantage that we can offer most patients, including those who are sicker, hip or knee prosthesis surgery.
Responsibilities
In the role of sterile processing technician within our planned operations, you will be part of a multidisciplinary team and a key person who develops and drives the operations together with your colleagues.
Your work includes instrument care, functional checks, and packaging of surgical instruments, as well as responsibility for disinfection and sterilization processes. Ordering and handling of materials are also part of the duties.
Since patient safety is central to your work, you are tasked with ensuring that disinfection, sterilization, and other processes are carried out in accordance with established goals, regulations, and standards.
About the workplace
The Unit for Planned Operations in Sala is part of the Orthopedic Clinic with inpatient orthopedic care for hip and knee arthroplasty. By gathering the entire care chain and all expertise within the same unit in our own premises, we increase productivity, reduce care time, and create higher quality for both the patient, the employee, and the region as a healthcare provider.
The goal is to create efficient flows and functioning teams to evaluate and achieve efficiency and secure production, where all staff are employed by the Orthopedic Clinic.
Our new unit in Sala consists of an outpatient clinic, a ward, an operating department, a postoperative ward, and a central sterile supply department. We have three operating rooms and 17 patient beds on the ward. Currently, two operating rooms are in operation, with the third room primarily intended for use as a training room. The Unit for Planned Operations in Sala opened on April 15, 2024, with its own high-production operating rooms where the entire care chain from initial visit to completed care contact is included.
We are proud to have recently won first prize in the quality index for the Swedish Perioperative Register (SPOR) for the second year in a row.
EPOS aims to:
Become Sweden's leading prosthesis center for hip and knee prostheses, from simple primary procedures to complex revisions. To be a prosthesis center where patients and staff from all over the country seek out due to the highest quality, best results, and high competence in the field.
It is important to us that you feel well and enjoy your work, therefore we offer you:
- a tailored introduction program to ensure you feel safe and secure in your professional role
- opportunities for professional development through, for example, internal training
- a workplace suitable for all stages of life
- free training at our fully equipped gym
- wellness allowance of 3,000 SEK/year
