Job Responsibilities

We are looking for you, our new nursing colleague who wants to work in emergency care and care for geriatric patients! Working with this patient group allows you as a nurse to develop, as the patient's medical condition is often complex and needs to be addressed together with the patient's life history. You will be part of an interdisciplinary team that works together to provide our patients with the best possible care and quality of life.

Our patients come to us primarily via the emergency department or are transferred from the hospital's medically acute care unit. As a nurse with us, you are responsible for and lead the nursing work, which often consists of specific nursing interventions. These interventions can either be curative or palliative. The medical aspect is also a large part of the work and consists, in addition to medication administration and various medical technical procedures, of being able to interpret the patient's various symptoms and parameters. We who work here are stimulated by being able to work independently, but we also appreciate having competent and engaged colleagues for support within the team.

About the workplace

The department consists of 24 care places, 16 emergency care places, and 8 rehabilitation places where we work in three teams. Our emergency care places have an intake of four orthopedic patients who are transferred to Geriatrics for recovery/rehabilitation after hip surgery.

Our nurses work in teams consisting of one nurse and three nursing assistants. The interdisciplinary team consists of a nurse, doctor, nursing assistant, physiotherapist, occupational therapist, speech therapist, and social worker. We also have a close collaboration with Rehabilitation Medicine, which is located on the same floor as Geriatrics.

At the end of each work shift, we evaluate both patient safety and the work environment. These evaluations then form the basis for us to continue to maintain and develop both patient safety and our work environment.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are a licensed nurse, preferably with experience in the profession, but we also welcome you who are new to the profession. If you have previous experience working in similar operations, it is meritorious. Since you need to communicate verbally and in writing with patients, relatives, and colleagues, good knowledge of the Swedish language is required. Other language skills are meritorious.

As a person, you are secure, stable, and have good self-awareness. Since the work can change quickly in various ways, you need to be flexible and have the ability to maintain your calm and focus in new situations. You have a good ability to structure your work independently and take responsibility for your tasks. We work in teams and see collaboration and clarity as very important ingredients for success. Since we work closely with both patients and relatives, empathy is an important ingredient in your daily life. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.
