We are seeking a Mapping and Surveying Engineer with experience in surveying and mapping within various stages of community development, as well as knowledge of property law. We particularly value strong skills in map production and geodata management in GIS.

The Mapping and Surveying Engineer is based in the heart of Piteå and primarily performs duties in Piteå, but also in Älvsbyn municipality, as the municipalities have a cooperation agreement.

Due to the extensive societal development Piteå municipality is facing with the Norrbotten Line and major industrial investments in Norrbotten, the MBK (Mapping, Surveying, and Cadastre) operations need further development. At the same time, we see a need for increased digitalization and development of working methods for better map updates.

Responsibilities

The tasks are highly varied, and your working hours are flexible to some extent. There are good opportunities to adapt tasks based on your competence profile. The role involves a combination of operational work and administration. Remote work may occur to a limited extent.

As a Mapping and Surveying Engineer, you are responsible for the entire process, from order to delivery and invoicing. The work includes, among other things, the production of new construction maps for building permits and base maps as a basis for detailed development plans. You will also work with setting out and position checks within the building permit process.

The role includes receiving and managing survey data from both internal and external actors for updating the primary map. You will also work on improving digital property boundaries and updating boundary quality according to the DRK agreement.

You will actively contribute to the development of the municipality's MBK operations and collaborate both internally and externally. All geodata management is carried out in ArcGIS Pro with add-on modules from Gaida.

Competence Requirements

We are looking for someone with a university education in surveying, mapping engineering, surveying engineering, community development, or a related field, alternatively a vocational higher education or equivalent experience deemed equivalent.

You must be able to work independently with mapping and surveying operations and be comfortable with customer contacts. Furthermore, you have good communication skills and find it easy to collaborate with different professional groups and customers. You are also structured and responsible.

Driver's license B is a requirement.

It is an advantage if you have:

• Experience working in GIS
• Experience with ArcGIS Pro / ArcMap and modules from Gaida / Geosecma map
• Knowledge of property law
• Experience searching/retrieving information in the Land Survey Authority's records
• Experience working in a politically governed organization

About the workplace

Community Development is one of the municipality's seven departments. Our common mission is to create welfare and sustainable societal development. Together with the people of Piteå, the business community, and associations, we are developing Piteå into an even better place to live, work, and thrive.

The workplace is located at Statsporten, right in the center of Piteå. With an activity-based layout where we work in zones. The Planning Department consists of 40 employees divided into three units. For this position, you will join the Planning and Building unit, which currently consists of 15 employees.
