Student Health at Uppsala University is seeking a Health Pedagogue
The mission of Student Health is to prevent and address health risks and problems related to student life. We work both promotively and preventively, at individual, group, and organizational levels. Student Health offers various activities for students with preventive and promotional purposes, some run independently and others on behalf of departments/programs or student organizations.
Our clinic receives students who struggle to manage their studies due to psychological or psychosocial difficulties. The team includes psychologists, counselors, a health pedagogue, a coordinator for student sports, and a receptionist. The work is performed on-site.
Job Responsibilities:
The work consists of preventive and promotional tasks through group interventions. We are looking for someone with experience and a passion for meeting groups in various contexts to inform and work on health promotion and preventive themes, such as stress and ANDTS issues (alcohol, narcotics, doping, tobacco, gambling).
Preventive tasks include, for example, giving lectures, courses, and workshops for students at Student Health and at various university campuses. This also involves information campaigns, such as participating in fairs for new students at the start of the term. The health pedagogue works closely with the coordinator for student sports, which may include leading certain outdoor activities and training groups. We are in an exciting phase developing support for minor conflicts and collaboration issues within student groups. This work will be part of the position. The role involves extensive collaboration with various functions and professions within the university and student organizations.
The work involves great variety, and we are looking for someone who thrives in such an environment. Evening work may occur.
You will be part of a team, so to succeed, we expect you to have the willingness to work towards common goals and an interest in contributing to the development of the operations. You should have a genuine interest in working with young people and a desire to meet them where they are based on their current needs.
Qualification Requirements:
You hold a bachelor's degree with a focus on public health, health pedagogy, or another education of at least three years (university studies) deemed equivalent by the employer. You have at least two years of qualified health pedagogical work at the group level, such as giving lectures, workshops, health-related information campaigns, or similar. Furthermore, you have at least two years of professional experience in meeting various types of groups with different conditions and needs.
Good knowledge of both Swedish and English, both spoken and written, is required as all tasks are performed in both languages. Our activities are conducted both physically and digitally. Digital competence is therefore a requirement.
We place great importance on personal qualities such as good teamwork skills, communication skills, a structured working method, and the ability to take initiative. The position requires great flexibility.
Desirable/Meritorious:
Experience working with young adults is meritorious. Experience working at a student health clinic or in occupational health care is meritorious. Previous experience of giving lectures in English is meritorious. Professional experience with ANDTS issues and/or conflict management is meritorious. It is meritorious to have knowledge of and experience with group training and/or leading outdoor activities.
About the Employment:
The employment is permanent (probationary period may apply). The scope is full-time. Start date according to agreement. Location: Uppsala.
Information about the employment is provided by: Unit Manager Ulrika Svalfors, 018-471 10 03.
