Workplace

We are looking for a support pedagogue who wants to help shape the future for our residents in a unit that works with individuals with significant support needs due to their disabilities. Autism and intellectual disabilities, sometimes in combination with other variations. We are looking for someone who has a sense for meeting individuals and has the ability to work in a structured manner and create a calm, safe environment for our residents while guiding colleagues in daily pedagogical work.

The group home is located just outside Trelleborg's urban area and is a modern residence built specifically for the target group. Well thought out and physically designed to be stress-reducing in the daily lives of the residents. There are spaces for both privacy and a socially developing environment, and it is also planned for a high staff-to-resident ratio. The outdoor environments are adapted for the target group with walking paths and various activity areas.

There are 6 residents in the home, and we are 28 staff members, including 6 pedagogues, supporting the residents. The home is located a bit away from the city, and you can easily get to and from the workplace by car.

Job Responsibilities

As a support pedagogue, in addition to the basic mission of supporting residents, you will have a leading role. You are expected to develop implementation plans, work documents, conduct risk analyses, and action plans while guiding colleagues and being a good role model in pedagogical work.

You will develop and implement, together with colleagues, working methods and approaches. You will carry out, teach, and follow up on pedagogical methods based on the individual needs of the residents. The role also includes mentoring colleagues, creating routines, and ensuring that they maintain high quality and are followed in practice. You are also expected to monitor new working methods, approaches, and aids for the target group.

You will work on a rotating schedule, day and evening. Part of the working time is allocated for pedagogical tasks.

Qualifications

Education as a support pedagogue (400 YH); or other post-secondary vocational training (minimum 200 YH) or university education (minimum 60 credits) in a field deemed relevant by the employer, such as pedagogy, psychiatry, behavioral science, or social work.

You also need at least two years of combined professional experience from either functional support/LSS; the school world, or another area where you have worked with and met individuals with disabilities and challenging behaviors, preferably from a pedagogical perspective.

You should also have good computer skills and experience with documentation. A good ability to express yourself well in speech and writing in Swedish is required.

Great importance is placed on personal qualities such as the ability to create good interpersonal meetings, safety, and structure. You need to have leadership qualities to support colleagues in their work and be curious about how to make the best day for the resident.

You also need to have good physical fitness and enjoy activities as the residents like to cycle and walk a lot.

A minimum B driver's license for a manual transmission vehicle is required to get to work and to drive residents between the home and activities.
