At the Swedish Migration Agency, we are working on one of the major societal issues of our time – migration. We are a total of about 6,000 people here, and we have an unusually important job!

The Security Department is part of the head office and has overall responsibility for security and preparedness within the agency.

At the Security Department, experts work with information security, physical security, personnel security, crisis preparedness, civil defense, internal investigations, employee protection, and other security issues across the entire spectrum from operational protection to security protection. The department is led by our security director, who also sits on the agency's executive management.

The Security Department is in an expansive phase, and we are now looking for someone who wants to contribute to strengthening our work in information security.

You will work in an environment with many external contacts and international connections. The operations are subject to complex threat scenarios and are supported by technical systems with high demands for security and availability. We offer a varied, stimulating, and responsible job with great opportunities for personal development. You will have the chance to participate in projects that have a significant impact on the operations of the Swedish Migration Agency and our collaboration with other authorities.

Main Responsibilities

You will be an important part of a group of experts in information security with a strategic focus, alongside the agency's information security manager. Within the department, there are also security coordinators who serve as a tactical information security resource linked to the various departments and their core operations.

Currently, a lot of effort is being put into adapting to the Cybersecurity Act and the CER Directive, and coordinating this with the Swedish Migration Agency's role as a preparedness authority. In the systematic work, there is close collaboration within the department and with other functions within the agency, such as IT security, data protection officers, and information governance.

In this role, you will alternate between governance and follow-up work with support for operations, both nationally and internationally, for example, with the agency's work at embassies.

As an expert in information security, you will support the organization in several ways, and the role primarily includes:

  • developing and coordinating the agency's systematic and risk-based information and cybersecurity work,
  • driving smaller projects,
  • conducting analyses and investigations as well as documenting these,
  • leading and participating in training activities to promote a high security awareness and good security culture,
  • collaborating with other authorities.

Other qualified tasks may occur based on needs, background, and personal interest, with good opportunities to influence the content of the work.

Who are you?

To thrive and succeed in the role, we see that you are structured and clear, but at the same time responsive to the needs of the operations. You collaborate well with others and have good communication skills. You can create engagement and build trust. You are strategic and can translate management's goals into your own work. You deliver on time with high quality and have the ability to work independently and drive your own activities.

We work in an environment where it is not always known how each workday will look. This means that we need to be flexible and manage our everyday work from different perspectives and various operational needs, keeping the agency's best interests in mind.

We place great importance on your personal qualities and suitability for the position.

You, who are applying, have:

  • an academic degree in a relevant field or other education combined with professional experience that the employer deems relevant for the role,
  • several years of experience working with information security,
  • experience in planning and driving strategic issues in the field,
  • good knowledge of laws, regulations, directives, and standards in the security area,

It is advantageous if you have experience or knowledge in:

  • monitoring and auditing information security work,
  • training and communication,
  • procurement/acquisition,
  • security protection or data protection,
  • information management in public operations.
