Norrtälje Prison

Norrtälje Prison is a closed facility in the highest security class with approximately 250 inmates. The operations are run, led, and developed by around 230 employees and 15 managers. The largest professional group is correctional officers, but there are also healthcare professionals, administrative staff, educators, production leaders, and several other functions. Inmates participate in education, various treatment programs, or work in the prison's woodworking industry and mechanical workshop.

The prison is located in a nature-friendly area close to green spaces, contributing to a pleasant and sustainable work environment. Employees have access to a gym and sauna, as well as a highly appreciated staff cafeteria that creates good conditions for community and recovery. The prison has good transportation links and is easy to reach by public transport. For those who drive, there is free parking available in our staff parking lot.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As a correctional officer, you will be part of a team where you have daily contact with the client. The tasks at the prison are varied: care, surveillance, searching, and security work are mixed with release planning and conversation/motivation work. Clear routines are a natural part of your daily work. You are responsible for opening and locking cell doors and accompanying clients to work and education. The role also includes searching and supervising the recreation yard and training facility. You have daily contact with the clients, where your approach contributes to creating security and providing insight into their well-being. You are also an important part of the work with clients' release preparations and reintegration into society.

QUALIFICATIONS

Your personal qualities are important to us. As a correctional officer, you need to be secure, stable, and have good self-awareness. Since you will be working with your colleagues to run the operations, you need to have good teamwork skills and the ability to communicate clearly. Good judgment and integrity are required in your professional practice. The position requires good physical ability to handle situations that may arise in the work and to perform the physical tasks included in the introductory training.

We are looking for someone who has:

• Completed upper secondary education or equivalent education combined with work experience.
• Work experience, including seasonal work, hourly employment, or self-employment. Internships and volunteer work are not considered equivalent to employment.
• Good knowledge of the Swedish language in both speech and writing.
• Good computer skills.

It is an advantage if you have:

• Knowledge in relevant areas, such as behavioral science, criminology, psychiatry, law, or conflict management.
• Work experience from corrections, security work, social care, psychiatry, healthcare, or service work in trade, hotels, or restaurants.

OTHER
