Summer Job in Database Management at the Medical Products Agency
At the Medical Products Agency, we make a difference together. In life and for life. We work for the health of people and animals, for a better Sweden today and in the future. For the summer of 2026, we are looking for diligent students who want to work with database management and structured information in the agency's drug register.
Our Operations
The Licensing area works in various ways to ensure that appropriate medicines reach patients. Approvals of new medicines, safety monitoring, and management of changes to approved products are central parts of our mission, as is advising on drug development and providing information about medicines.
The area has nearly 400 employees and consists of several units, with the Unit for Pharmacy and Biotechnology (FoB) having over 90 employees working in a broad scientific field.
The unit is responsible for evaluating the documentation concerning the development, manufacturing, characterization, and control of medicines throughout their lifecycle. The evaluation, along with the assessment of the medicines' efficacy and safety, forms the basis for the decision on whether a medicine can be approved for clinical use.
We collaborate with other EU member states and actively contribute to committees and working groups within the European Medicines Agency (EMA). The unit also participates in assisting companies and researchers with scientific advice, as well as in developing guidelines within the framework of international normative cooperation.
Your Tasks
We are looking for three university students who want to work in the Unit for Pharmacy and Biotechnology during the summer. The work involves entering product information into our national database, including retrieving data from an EU database or interpreting free-text fields to structure the information.
The data compiled through this work aims to provide Sweden and the EU with better information about the availability of medicines, how they are manufactured and used. The work will also involve handling large amounts of information in Excel.
Your Background
We are looking for someone who has completed at least three semesters with satisfactory results in the pharmacy program or an equivalent other natural science program with a focus on pharmaceuticals.
You have a very good ability to express yourself in speech and writing and should be able to comprehend information in both Swedish and English. You also have excellent computer skills. Experience working with Excel or database systems/complex registers is an advantage.
Your Personal Qualities
You have a scientific mindset and possess a good ability to overview, summarize, and evaluate large amounts of scientific information and motivate your conclusions. You have a good ability to plan and organize your work and to work purposefully towards established deadlines. You have a solution-focused approach and actively work towards good relationships and common results.
We place great importance on personal qualities.
