Delivery Unit in Hudiksvall

The delivery unit in Hudiksvall has approximately 850 deliveries per year from week 32 of pregnancy. Our maternity ward has eight care places, where each room is private and allows the partner to stay throughout the entire care period. We have a working method that we call NSF, newborn family togetherness, where we strive for zero separation between mother and child and where we also collaborate with NEO to achieve our ambition.

As a nursing assistant with us, you will rotate between the maternity ward and the delivery unit. In the delivery unit, you are an important part of the team together with the midwife in the delivery room. In the maternity ward, you meet new parents and provide support and guidance in their new role together with your colleagues.

As a nursing assistant in the maternity ward and delivery unit, you will, among other things:

• assist the midwife and/or doctor during delivery
• support and encourage the mother and partner during labor
• perform various checks on mother and child
• help with and instruct in cup feeding if necessary
• provide support and assistance with breastfeeding.

The work involves shifts during the day, evening, night, and weekends.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who is calm and secure in their professional role and who is used to taking responsibility and working independently. You have a good approach and work closely with patients, being very attentive to the family's needs.

In the role of nursing assistant, you should:

• be a trained nursing assistant
• have good knowledge of the Swedish language, both spoken and written.

It is advantageous if you have previous work experience in maternal and child healthcare.

Information about the title nursing assistant

As of July 1, 2023, the title nursing assistant became a protected professional title. This means that you will need a certificate from the National Board of Health and Welfare to use the title nursing assistant within healthcare and social services. You can apply for the certificate from the National Board of Health and Welfare. If you do not have a certificate, you can continue to work in healthcare and social services, but with a different title than nursing assistant. In Region Gävleborg, this means that the title in your employment contract will be care assistant until your certificate is submitted.
