JOB DESCRIPTION
We are now expanding our team and looking for an engaged, driven relative consultant who is passionate about strengthening the life situation of relatives and who wants to continue developing the municipality's support for relatives.
As a relative consultant, you will provide support to individuals who care for or support a close relative with a long-term mental or physical illness, disability, or substance abuse issues. In the operation, we meet relatives of various ages and life situations.
New legislation has strengthened the focus on children as relatives, which means that an important part of the mission is to contribute to developing and strengthening support for children living in families where a close relative is ill, has a disability, or lives with substance abuse issues.
As a relative consultant, you will work based on the Social Services Act and the national relative strategy to provide support to individuals who support a close relative. This involves psychosocial work aimed at helping relatives manage and process practical and emotional challenges, mobilizing the relative's own resources to handle their life situation, and preventing ill health. You will do this through individual conversations, couple or family conversations, and as a leader in discussion groups.
The work also involves developing the operations around support for relatives through networking and educational initiatives. We offer supervision and consultation both within and outside the organization. The work particularly includes collaboration with other operations within the social services, Region Östergötland, and various interest associations.
The employer offers regular external supervision for the workgroup.
QUALIFICATIONS
You have a degree in social work or another relevant academic education that the employer assesses as equivalent. You have documented experience working with conversations and meeting people in difficult life situations. Experience in social work with children and youth, as well as familiarity with holding conversations with children, is a requirement.
It is advantageous if you have experience working in elderly care, the disability sector, or in the area of harmful use and addiction. Knowledge of the situation of relatives and the challenges that may arise in the role of a relative is also advantageous.
You have a good ability to work independently, are attentive, and can express yourself well in both spoken and written Swedish.
We are looking for someone who is calm, empathetic, and a good listener. Since we are a small workgroup where parts of the work are done independently, it is important that you can easily collaborate and enjoy working alone. We also appreciate a positive and solution-focused attitude in your work. You should feel comfortable giving presentations and information sessions and independently leading discussions in both smaller and larger relative groups.
Employment type: Permanent position.
Duration: Permanent.
Working hours: Office hours with flexible working hours agreement.
