Job Advertisement: Norrbotten Regiment I19 Seeks Military Personnel

Currently, the Armed Forces are growing, developing, and expanding. The Armed Forces are an important part of our democratic society and a guarantee that we can live our lives in peace and freedom.

Norrbotten Regiment, I19, is one of Sweden's largest regiments. I19 is tasked with producing combat units for the Norrbotten Brigade. The brigade's units are specialized in combat in a subarctic environment. I19 is the lock in the North.

At I19, the Norrbotten Armored Battalion is responsible for the daily training and production of two armored battalions included in the Norrbotten Brigade, with offensive combat in a subarctic environment as the main capability. The battalions include the latest variants of Combat Vehicle 90 and Stridsvagn 122.

FLF FIN (Forward Land Forces Finland)

NmekB 19 will, from 2026, primarily focus on operating and serving with a strength within the multinational force to FLF Finland. As an employee at NmekB 19 and Boden Garrison, you can be part of a historic mission for the Garrison, Norrbotten Brigade, the Armed Forces, and Sweden within the framework of NATO.

The current planning direction is that the majority of the strength contribution will be stationed in Boden and conduct operations within the framework of NmekB 19 and FLF FIN in both Sweden and Finland. The operations will include exercises, training, education, and readiness in both Sweden and Finland.

Compensation for Participation in FLF FIN

  • The battalion combat group is in continuous readiness for 1-3 days during the readiness period. For the readiness, you will be compensated with 5500 SEK/month.
  • You are expected to conduct approximately 35-40 Armed Forces days per six-month period, most of which will take place in Finland.
  • You will be provided with free accommodation of barracks standard.
  • You will be provided with free meals with benefit value.
  • On-call allowances will be paid to individuals in VB service.

Other

Employment type: Permanent. Continuous service with placement at I19 Boden. Possible to meet an agreement for temporary placement.
Probationary employment: The Armed Forces applies a six-month probationary period for those who are not employed by the authority.

War placement: The employment means that you will be war-placed at I19, at the combat unit you are employed at.
Working hours: Mainly daytime 07:30-16:30, but evenings, weekends, readiness, and Armed Forces days occur.
Salary: The Armed Forces applies individual salary setting.

All candidates for the position must undergo physical tests and security clearance interviews. Test weekends are planned at I19 between weeks 617 and 618. Selection takes place continuously, and therefore, invitations will be sent close to the test date. No other test opportunities will be offered for this recruitment period.

I19 is one of Sweden's largest regiments with operations in Boden, Kiruna, Tåme, and Grubbnäsudden/Lomben. The main location and management for the regiment are in Boden.

The regiment's most important task is to build combat units, and in the coming years, I19 will gradually develop the new Norrbotten Brigade. By 2028, the regiment should be able to train, stockpile, and mobilize the entire brigade, including the associated functional units; command, field operations, air defense, and logistics. The brigade should be able to conduct combat in all environments but be specialized for combat in the subarctic environment of the Nordic region.

The regiment also houses the Armed Forces' winter unit, which is tasked with coordinating and supporting the development of the Armed Forces' winter capability.

The conscription training is conducted at the Norrbotten Armored Battalion, which is responsible for training and maintaining units for the Norrbotten Brigade. The regiment also consists of the regimental staff, Armed Forces Health, Garrison Support Unit, Logistics Unit, and Local Planning Unit.
