Data Protection Officer at the County Administrative Board

What does the role entail?

As a Data Protection Officer, you will work for all 21 County Administrative Boards. The role is independent and involves reporting directly to the agency's management. The position is located at Safir – the joint support function for information security and data protection for the County Administrative Boards. There, you will be part of a team with several expert roles in information security and data protection.

In this role, you are responsible for monitoring the agency's compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). You have both a supportive and auditing function and work to ensure that personal data is processed correctly and legally. You also serve as a point of contact for the supervisory authority and for the data subjects, as well as providing support to various functions within the agency.

Your responsibilities include:

• monitoring and overseeing internal compliance with the GDPR and other applicable data protection legislation
• reporting deficiencies and identifying development needs within the data protection area
• assisting in the investigation of personal data incidents
• providing advice regarding data protection impact assessments
• conducting environmental monitoring, networking, and contributing to knowledge development in the field.

Are you the one we are looking for?

For this role, you should have:

• an academic degree that the employer deems relevant for the position
• several years of experience working in a public authority and a good understanding of how government operations function
• very good knowledge of the GDPR and related legislation
• excellent ability to express yourself clearly and pedagogically in both speech and writing.

You are responsive and good at creating and maintaining good relationships. You work in a structured manner and can prioritize your work while also having a good ability to see the bigger picture. As a Data Protection Officer, you need to support the organization by providing relevant and well-balanced advice and guidance.

• be able to make decisions considering multiple perspectives
• understand that a central role for the County Administrative Board is to balance different interests
• be able to prioritize and adapt to work with new tasks or in new contexts.

It is an advantage if you have experience in:

• working as a Data Protection Officer or other relevant experience in the data protection field
• collaboration within the County Administrative Boards or working in complex organizations
• giving presentations and training.

More about us and the role

The employment is permanent, full-time, and usually subject to a probationary period. The start date is as soon as possible or by agreement. The position is formally located in Stockholm. However, there is the possibility to have a workplace at and start from any of the country's 21 County Administrative Boards. Travel may occur in the position.

How we recruit

There is a possibility for remote agreements based on the needs of the organization.

The 21 County Administrative Boards of Sweden have joint IT operations, common systems, and essentially common tasks. We also have a common organizational model for the development and management of work support that in some form includes all information management. This means many dependencies, creating good conditions for coordination gains in our broad information security work. The joint information security work of the County Administrative Boards is led and coordinated by a joint support function, Safir.

Safir consists of about 10 people with expertise in information security, law, data protection, communication, etc. The function also includes the County Administrative Boards' joint information security coordinator (CISO). The unit is led by a unit manager who exercises a present and trust-based leadership in accordance with the County Administrative Board of Stockholm's management policy.

As an employee at the County Administrative Board, you may need to be directed to other tasks within the agency. It is therefore a prerequisite that you as a person are flexible, socially interested, and want to work with the breadth that the County Administrative Board has to offer.
