Temporary Security Expert at the Swedish Prison and Probation Service

The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is growing – we are building new facilities, renovating, and expanding, and we are now looking for more employees. Our main goal is to reduce recidivism – to break the cycle of crime. If we succeed, society will be safer and more secure for everyone. We are the authority responsible for prisons, probation, remand centers, and client transport.

The Security Department is responsible for monitoring and analyzing trends and events that may affect security work, as well as identifying, developing, and implementing leading practices and expert knowledge. The position is located within the section for individual security.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As a temporary security expert, you will follow up and ensure the quality of the security work within the authority. Your tasks will include developing, planning, following up, standardizing, and educating in security matters. This will involve working with prisons, remand centers, probation, the national transport unit, and offices concerning clients, visitors, and staff. You will also develop security training, methods, and techniques for the authority's operational capacity and security components in staff training. Requirements for procurement of security equipment and work on improving methods and routines within the security area are part of the role. Part of the work involves planning and following up on work and/or projects within the security area, where you are expected to produce reports or other documentation.

QUALIFICATIONS

In meetings with others, you communicate clearly and ensure that messages are conveyed and that expectations are clear for all parties involved. Furthermore, you think strategically and have a broad perspective on issues.

We are looking for someone who has:

• A university degree in a relevant field or other education combined with relevant work experience
• Experience working in the Swedish Prison and Probation Service, preferably at various levels
• Experience in planning, implementing, and following up on work and/or projects
• Experience in investigative work
• Experience writing reports and other documentation
• Ability to express yourself well in spoken and written Swedish
• Broad knowledge of security issues

It is an advantage if you have:

• Post-secondary education in the security field
• Approved basic training within the Swedish Prison and Probation Service
• Experience working with security assessments
• Experience working with standardization and governing documents
• Experience in planning and presenting decision-making materials
• Experience in security work locally, regionally, and nationally within the Swedish Prison and Probation Service
