Support Educators Wanted for Regnbågen Short-Term Home
Do you want to help create meaningful days for children and young people with disabilities? Do you enjoy collaborating and developing methods together with others? Then you might be the one we are looking for. We are now seeking two support educators for Regnbågen Short-Term Home – one temporary position and one permanent position starting as agreed.
The short-term operations within LSS are aimed at families with children and young people with disabilities. The children stay with us for shorter periods based on granted days to receive support, stimulation, and a change of environment while the family gets relief. Relief is also provided at home through respite services.
Our mission is to contribute to good living conditions for the children. The support we provide is based on decisions according to the Act on Support and Service for Certain Disabled Persons (LSS). We work with short-term supervision, short-term stays, respite services, and escort services.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
As a support educator, you have a special pedagogical responsibility in the workgroup. You guide and support colleagues on how to adapt the work according to the children's needs and based on evidence-based methods.
You work with PFA, pedagogical approach and working methods. This means that you, together with colleagues, develop methods that help the children understand their everyday lives and feel secure.
Your work includes, among other things:
- establishing and following up implementation plans together with colleagues
- supporting the workgroup in pedagogical methods
- collaborating with coordinators, group leaders, and unit managers
- cooperating with guardians, schools, habilitation, and assistance coordinators
- contributing to development and change work in the operations
You also work closely with the children in their everyday lives. This may involve providing support in clarifying pedagogy, social training, play, and activities. You accompany them on walks and outings and participate in creative activities such as music and play. The work may also involve support in personal care, for example during toilet visits. Everyday tasks such as cooking and cleaning are also part of the job. You are the contact person for several children and are responsible for following up on their implementation plans. The work is structured and based on clear routines and action plans to meet the children's needs in a safe manner. The position involves scheduled working hours with varying hours, such as day, evening, and weekend. You have meal breaks.
QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for someone with training as a support educator or other education that the employer considers equivalent.
You also need to have:
- experience working with people with disabilities
- knowledge of care
- experience in social documentation and relevant legislation
- experience using IT in your work
- a B driver's license
It is an advantage if you have experience leading or supporting workgroups, for example in the role of a support educator.
It is also an advantage if you have knowledge or experience of:
- PFA (pedagogical approach and working methods) or similar methods
- sign language support, visual support, and other communicative adaptations
- working with children with disabilities, for example within the autism spectrum or neuropsychiatric disabilities
- working with individuals who exhibit challenging behaviors
The most important thing is that you want to make a difference in the children's everyday lives. You are a secure and stable person who can meet children with different needs in a calm and respectful manner. You are attentive and understand how important the approach is in working with children and families. You have patience and can create structure and security in everyday life. At the same time, you are creative and can contribute to a playful and positive environment. You find it easy to collaborate and build good relationships with children, guardians, and colleagues. Since the work varies between different parts of the operations, you also need to be flexible and able to adapt to the needs of the operations. The work involves play, activities, and support in care. Therefore, you need to have good physical ability.
