Defense Staff Security Department is Hiring
The Defense Staff Security Department (FST SÄK) is looking for a team member who wants to contribute to the department's knowledge development by collecting and compiling quality-assured knowledge based on existing research and proven experience. The changing global situation means that our defense needs to be strengthened, and the increased intelligence activities against Sweden and the Armed Forces are extensive.
About the Position
The Defense Staff supports the Supreme Commander in processing and preparing cases at the military strategic level, ensuring that decisions made by the authority's management are implemented, followed up, and reported back. The Defense Staff is also responsible for translating the government's guidance of the Armed Forces into strategic plans and for directing branch and combat force leaders. Furthermore, the Defense Staff has an overarching responsibility for coordinating infrastructure and material supply.
The Security Department is responsible for security services within the operational responsibility of the Chief of the Defense Staff. The department consists of the Security Section, Sua Section, and Conscription Security Section.

Main Responsibilities
Based at the Conscription Security Section, you will focus on strengthening the work with security assessments of conscripts. A large part of the work as an analyst at FST SÄK includes tasks such as processing, analysis, assessment, and dissemination of information to the section and the entire department. The work involves close collaboration with other units within the Armed Forces and other authorities. The role includes participating in method and operational development work within analysis.
REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications
- Relevant academic degree, such as an officer's degree, social sciences, or other experience deemed equivalent by the employer.
- Several years of current and relevant work experience in what the employer considers a relevant field.
- Very good ability to express oneself verbally and in writing in both Swedish and English.
- Good computer skills.
Personal Attributes
Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability. For the position, it is required that you are interested in current global issues, have the ability to see connections and handle complex questions, and can work both independently and in a group. Furthermore, the ability to switch between long-term and short-term tasks is required. The position places high demands on the ability to build and maintain good relationships. Other significant qualities are good judgment and integrity.
The above qualifications must be verifiable upon request through certificates, references, and work or selection tests.
DESIRABLE
- Experience from the Armed Forces, conscription, GSS, or as an officer.
- Good knowledge of and experience in developing analyses and various analytical methods.
- Good ability to analyze and understand the context in specific risk countries.
- Experience in analysis based on large data sets.
- Experience in security services or analytical work.
- Good analytical skills and a structured and critical approach to sources.
- Language skills beyond Swedish and English.
- Experience in conducting training and giving lectures.
- Experience in developing training materials.
Other
Employment Type: Permanent position. The Armed Forces applies a six-month probationary period for those not employed by the authority.

Information About the Recruiting Unit:
In the Headquarters, there is the Supreme Commander and the Director General. The Headquarters has approximately 1,000 employees – both professional officers and civilian experts. As of 2023-01-01, the Headquarters consists of the Defense Staff, Operations Management, Military Intelligence and Security Service, as well as the Headquarters Staff Department and independent supervisory units.
An employment with us means placement in a security class. Usually, Swedish citizenship is required. Security clearance with background checks will be conducted before employment according to Chapter 3 of the Security Protection Act. Employment entails an obligation to be placed in wartime. The implications of this vary depending on the type of position.
