The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is a government agency that, together with the police, prosecutors, and courts, is responsible for reducing crime and increasing people's safety. Most of those sentenced to correctional services are in probation. Probation is correctional service that takes place in society, where a sentence in probation involves both control and support for the sentenced individuals. The probation service is growing, we are receiving new and more extensive assignments and are now looking for new employees to fulfill various roles in our societal mission. The Södertörn Probation Office in Huddinge and the Sollentuna Probation Office are part of the Stockholm County Probation Area. Together, the two offices have approximately 240 full-time equivalents distributed among a probation manager, correctional inspectors, decision support, probation inspectors, correctional officers, and administrators. Both offices are located near bus and commuter train stations.

JOB DESCRIPTION

As a correctional officer in the probation service, you contribute to a safer and more secure society. In this role, you are the face of the Swedish Prison and Probation Service and the first person visitors will meet at the probation office. Your tasks include staffing the reception of the probation office, ensuring secure entry, and following up with clients under electronic monitoring, including home visits and workplace visits.

The role also includes technical handling and readiness for enforcement with electronic monitoring and community service checks. Part of your working time will be spent with a colleague in a vehicle as we have large geographical areas to cover. You will closely collaborate with probation inspectors, administrators, and the correctional inspector who is your immediate supervisor. You will work in a team on a rotating schedule with your correctional colleagues.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who has:

• A completed high school education or other education combined with work experience that the Swedish Prison and Probation Service deems relevant. (Work experience, including seasonal work, part-time employment, or self-employment. Internships and volunteer work are not equivalent to employment)
• Good knowledge of the Swedish language in both spoken and written form.
• Good computer skills.
• A valid driver's license (B) with good driving experience.

It is an advantage if you have:

• Approved correctional education.
• Relevant work experience in one or more of the following areas: correctional services, security work, or psychosocial work, for example, in HVB, social psychiatry where you have had meetings with people in vulnerable situations.
• Experience in security checks/access control or other technical work, such as electronic monitoring devices.
• Knowledge or experience in conflict management or client-facing work.
• Experience in incident management work, e.g., alarm manager, duty officer.
• Experience in service occupations, such as in retail, fast food chains, or reception.
• Relevant language skills.
