JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As a field educator/youth counselor, you will meet young people aged 13-20 and their parents or other important adults, both in places with adult presence such as schools and youth centers, and where adults are absent, such as on streets and squares. You will work proactively, build relationships, and prevent risks related to substance abuse, crime, and mental health issues.

The role also includes:

• Contacting parents and sometimes leading meetings or gatherings.
• Collaborating with other actors, such as the police, schools, community organizations, and social services.
• Sharing knowledge about youth trends and current situations with partners or parents.
• Contributing to a more equitable, equal, and inclusive outreach work.

The group conducts preventive and relationship-building work through outreach efforts in public environments where young people gather. The purpose is to identify youth at risk early, that is, young people who are at risk of harm based on the environments and contexts they are in.

As a youth counselor, you will work on behalf of caseworkers for children and youth or through non-needs-assessed interventions such as advice and support.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who is a trained social worker, social educator, or has other relevant education (minimum 2 years).

You should have experience working with young people. It is advantageous if you have experience working with youth in vulnerable life situations. You must have a B driver's license. You should enjoy working proactively in youth environments during evenings and weekends. You should easily build relationships with young people, important adults for the youth, and partners. Experience in leading groups is a plus.

Additional qualifications such as MI, RePulce, ABC Teen, Signs of Safety, or other relevant training are advantageous.

You should be secure, stable, and have good self-awareness. You should work well in a team and be socially active. You have an interest, experience, and knowledge of the social media that young people use. You understand the importance of preventive drug work.

You express a professional and positive attitude in your work. You plan, organize, and prioritize your work effectively.
