Vattenfall Hydropower is responsible for Vattenfall's approximately 90 hydropower plants and around 300 dams in the Nordic region. We are about 580 employees in Sweden and Finland, with our headquarters in Luleå. The renewable electricity production from hydropower is a central prerequisite for a climate-smart and fossil-free society, where we play an important role as an enabler for the sustainable energy systems of the future. Our production corresponds to about 25 percent of Sweden's total electricity needs. To ensure high availability in our production, we continuously work to develop our methods and take advantage of digital opportunities. We are now looking for someone who wants to contribute to this important work.
We are strengthening the dam safety department and are looking for an additional dam technical expert (DS)
The department is responsible for the management and monitoring of dam safety work within Vattenfall Hydropower. We analyze the safety of our dam facilities, set design requirements, compile needs for action, initiate projects, and decide on operational limitations when necessary. Currently, the department consists of seventeen colleagues located in various locations across Sweden.
As a dam technical expert, you will stay well-informed about dam safety within your area of responsibility and the business as a whole. You will contribute your expertise to strengthen dam safety within both Vattenfall and society.
Your main responsibilities
In the role, you will be involved in:
- Participating in, planning, and ordering permit inspections and dam projects
- Reviewing technical investigations and documents from permit inspections
- Proposing measures and establishing action plans for increased dam safety
- Preparing decision-making materials for feasibility studies and projects
- Reviewing and acting as an internal client in projects
- Reporting from the operations and contributing to the development of working methods.
We offer a responsible and varied job in a company that invests in long-term development. You will have significant autonomy and good opportunities to influence how we manage and develop our facilities, at a time when hydropower is a very important part of Sweden's electricity mix.
The position involves travel and the opportunity to work with magnificent hydropower facilities and knowledgeable colleagues across the country. Welcome to us!
Requirements
We are looking for someone who is an experienced specialist in dam safety and has a relevant academic background, such as a civil engineer. Extensive and solid professional experience in the field can, in some cases, compensate for the educational requirement. Your education may be in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, or another relevant direction.
You have at least five years of experience working with dam safety and possess practical skills that contribute to strengthening the department's overall expertise. It is an advantage if you have RIDAS training and experience in hydropower.
As a person, you work in a structured and goal-oriented manner, have the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, and are used to making well-founded decisions. You have good analytical skills and a trustworthy, collaborative working style.
You communicate clearly and professionally in both Swedish and English, in both speech and writing. The position involves travel and requires a B driver's license. The position is security classified.
Location
For example, Luleå, Umeå, Östersund, Sundsvall, Sollefteå, Gävle, Solna, Trollhättan, or Gothenburg. Other locations can also be discussed, please indicate your preferred location in your application.
