The Hospitals in the West is an administration within the Västra Götaland Region and consists of four hospitals – Alingsås Hospital, Angered Local Hospital, Högsbo Local Hospital, and Kungälv Hospital. Description

Department 5 is a geriatric orthopedic emergency care department (GOA) that operates on a smaller scale. This is part of Kungälv Hospital's new construction to meet future healthcare needs in modern facilities. We primarily care for individuals with hip fractures and secondarily for osteoporosis-related fractures. Each patient is cared for in their own smartly designed room, for the benefit of both the patient and the staff.

We offer you a varied and enjoyable job with plenty of support from the unit manager and helpful colleagues. Our senior nurses and experienced nursing assistants are on-site to support you as you start your professional life. Our doctors also serve as mentors for the nurses.

We believe it is important to have a good introduction, and we will plan it based on your needs.

You will work in a team with 1-2 nursing assistants, experienced doctors, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, and, if necessary, other rehabilitation staff. Our strengths lie in the good collaboration between all professional categories, and everyone has a rehabilitative approach.

At the hospital, there is a care planning team that supports work around discharges and competence development in the IT system SAMSA as needed. We receive some assistance from a pharmacist in the department who prepares medications and provides support in medication-related questions. Regionservice assists us with supplies, cleaning, and transportation of patients within the hospital; they also transport beds to and from the laundry.

The position offers a basic schedule for day and evening shifts according to labor laws, and we work every other weekend. Special night staff is available, so there is no requirement for three-shift work.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with a nursing degree, preferably with experience in hospital care but also welcome new graduates. You should be able to work both independently and collaboratively with a patient focus.

Knowledge and experience in orthopedic and geriatric care are advantageous. Personal suitability is highly valued.

Clinical Foundation Year

For newly graduated nurses/radiology nurses, a clinical foundation year is included during the first year of your permanent employment. The clinical foundation year includes lectures, process-oriented nursing guidance, and practical training of your profession at the Simulation Center. It also includes shadowing in other departments to give you a broader understanding of the hospital where you work. This is an initiative to provide you with the opportunity to further develop in your profession and build your professional identity.
