About us

In September 2022, Psychiatry Psychosis opened a new ward. The target group is young patients newly diagnosed with psychosis, and we work with both treatment and investigation. The ward is located in the same building as the other two psychosis wards at Mölndal Hospital. We collaborate with the reception for new diagnoses, which is located close to the ward. Each patient has a contact person who coordinates and provides care. The unit employs doctors, nurses, caregivers, treatment assistants, social workers, Peer Support, and healthcare assistants.

We can adapt your schedule and employment level according to your life situation. A wonderful team of both nurses and caregivers already works on the ward. Our goal is to increase the number of nurses on all shifts to strengthen psychiatric care. We believe it is important for you as a nurse to have a nursing colleague to plan and structure your shifts with. For newly graduated nurses, we also offer a lecture package with relevant lectures at the clinic.

Job responsibilities

The conversation and meeting with the patient are the most important tools in the work. The initial goal is to create calm and safety for the patient. Then, through a person-centered approach, agree on a care plan that includes goals and strategies for treatment and follow-up. In addition, you will alternate between working as a responsible nurse and a medication responsible nurse with a broad role where you share medication, lead treatment conferences, report, receive new patients, and coordinate and distribute work among the care staff.

Key parts of this working method are:

• Listening and conveying images of the patient’s life situation, abilities, and obstacles.
• Creating trusting and safe relationships that lead to dialogue and collaboration.
• Formulating care plans based on the patient’s narrative and involving relatives.

About you

To be eligible for the position, you must be a licensed nurse. Experience in psychiatry or specialized training is an advantage, but we are also interested in newly graduated candidates. You have a genuine interest in human interactions and are driven by the desire to help others. Our patients' realities are often different from your own, so you must be able to show judgment, be clear, and try to reach out to the patient.

If you are a newly graduated nurse, you will be part of the Clinical Foundation Year, which is our introduction program. The Clinical Foundation Year is mandatory and lasts for the first year of your employment with us. It includes lectures, nursing supervision, and practical training of your profession at the Simulator Center. Additionally, it includes service in at least two different wards to broaden your competence.
