Welcome to Östergötland Museum - a vibrant meeting place where we create knowledge experiences that surprise. We manage and convey art and cultural history by inviting visitors to guided tours, cultural events, workshops, museum shop, conferences, and more. We also conduct business activities in archaeology, conservation, building preservation, and restaurant services. Within the Collections unit, we manage and care for materials from ancient times to today, both material and immaterial traces of life in Östergötland in archives, libraries, storage, museum courtyards, and castles. Do you want to contribute to preserving, communicating, and engaging more people with our cultural heritage?
Right now, we are in a transitional phase where we want to take the archive and the information we handle to new heights. We are creating new structures and want to preserve the information we create so that it becomes accessible and useful for us internally and for our external target groups. At the same time, we continue to organize and catalog the archives, which include topographical documentation, service archives, and individual historical archives. We are actively digitizing and striving to make our archival holdings as accessible for research and the public as possible.
For this exciting and important development work, we are looking for an archivist who thrives in the work between physical documents and digital information.
About the position
You will be part of the Collections unit, where we work with collection management, archives, diaries, libraries, cultural heritage promotion, and much more. Together with the current archive staff, you will work with archive cataloging, digitization, publishing, and handling inquiries and researcher visits in the archives and libraries. This new position also includes managing the diary and inquiries and the release of public documents, as well as developing educational materials and conducting skills development in archiving for colleagues.
Qualifications
· University or college education in archival science, information management, or humanities with at least 60 credits in archival science,
or other education/experience that the employer deems equivalent.
· Good knowledge of the Public Access to Information and Secrecy Act, the Archives Act, the Archives Ordinance, and related legislation.
· Experience in diary keeping and registration as well as working in document and case management systems.
· Good experience collaborating with colleagues in digital environments and work tools.
It is an advantage if you have:
· Experience in handling inquiries and the release of public documents.
· Experience in e-archives and understanding of digital preservation.
· Experience working within a public organization or authority.
· Experience working with VisualArkiv, NAD, and/or collection management systems.
Additionally, you need to have good knowledge of Swedish in both spoken and written form, and it is an advantage if you have a B driver's license.
You are a self-driven person who is good at organizing and prioritizing your tasks. You enjoy collaborating and relate sensitively and smoothly to other people. You are driven by a desire to share your knowledge and do so in a pedagogical, patient, and accommodating manner.
You are an analytical problem solver who has the ability to see the organization from a holistic perspective and can connect wholes and parts, present and future.
Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.
Other
The position is a permanent employment at 80%. Due to pension exchanges, we aim to expand the position to full-time within three to four years.
The position may start with a 6-month probationary period. We have a remote work policy that allows for some work from home.
About us
By working with us, you are helping to preserve our common cultural heritage and contribute to developing culture in the region. There is great opportunity to influence, and we have short decision-making paths. With us, you have parental leave supplements, secure insurance, and occupational pension.
