IT Technician at the Swedish Health and Social Care Inspectorate (IVO)

Do you want to make a real difference in people's everyday lives? At the Swedish Health and Social Care Inspectorate (IVO), you will be involved in developing state supervision and licensing processes – work that contributes to safer and more legally secure health and social care.

We are now looking for an IT Technician with an interest in virtualization and Microsoft platforms in a technically complex and mission-critical environment. The IT unit is part of the cross-agency department for Operational Support and is located in Stockholm. The department is responsible for a combination of outsourced and internal IT services.

The IT unit ensures quality and follow-up of deliveries from external suppliers and is responsible for managing, supporting, and further developing the agency's internal IT environment.

About the job

As an IT Technician, you will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, and further development of our virtualization platform (VMware). You will also provide qualified support to the operations within Microsoft environments. The role combines infrastructure work with user support.

Your main tasks will include:

Operation and management of virtual environments (VMware)

  • administer, monitor, and optimize VMware-based server environments
  • perform installations, upgrades, and patching of virtual servers
  • ensure high availability, good performance, and secure operation of the virtual infrastructure
  • troubleshoot and resolve incidents related to the virtualization platform
  • participate in capacity planning as well as improvement and development projects

IT support and user assistance (Microsoft environments)

  • provide first and second-line support to the users of the operations
  • handle cases related to Windows clients, Microsoft 365 environments, Teams, SharePoint, and other Microsoft services
  • install, configure, and maintain computers, peripherals, and software
  • troubleshoot client, network, and printer environments
  • contribute to the development and documentation of procedures, guides, and knowledge articles

The position is a permanent employment with a six-month probationary period, based in Stockholm. Travel may occur in the role.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who has:

  • post-secondary education in IT or equivalent experience deemed relevant by the employer
  • experience working with VMware (e.g., ESXi, vCenter)
  • good knowledge of Windows clients and Microsoft 365 environments
  • basic understanding of networks and IT security
  • experience in troubleshooting and user support
  • good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written

To succeed in this role, you are service-oriented, solution-focused, and enjoy helping others. You communicate clearly, take responsibility for your tasks, and are not afraid to ask questions when you want to understand more. You appreciate a varied everyday life where you can combine technology, problem-solving, and contact with users.

You have worked in IT for a few years and are curious about new technologies and new ways of working. You want to continue developing in your professional role, deepen your skills, and take on greater responsibility over time. With us, you will have the opportunity to broaden your experience, and we expect you to drive your own development by taking initiative and seeking new knowledge.

During the recruitment process, we will place great importance on your personal qualities.

We consider it an advantage if you also have:

  • certifications in VMware or Microsoft
  • experience in server administration (Windows Server)
  • knowledge of PowerShell or other scripting
  • experience with ITIL processes and working in ticketing systems
